Make sure you have time to set aside!,

Make sure you have time set aside to read this because once started you will not want to put it down.
I was always a great fan of Tom Clancy but reading Vince Flynn's work to-date has changed my definition of a book that I just can't put down. Along with Patrick Robinson, Vince Flynn has been my favourite author of the past twelve months and I trust he will keep his brain cells busy to come up with more like this one. Tom Clancy writes some great stuff but occassionally can get a bit bogged down with technical details whereas the flow of Vince Flynn's work is fast and furious throughout without losing a sense that the events that unfold could really happen. You needn't have read his previous works Term Limits & Transfer of Power as this a great read in its own right but I loved the way this book brought strands together from both of these books which previously were almost entirely independent. By the end of the book I wanted more and was glad to see that the follow up to this, Balance of Power, had been released in hardback which I ordered immediately. This is also a cracking read! My only slight criticism as a reader of the previous books and this applies to his latest one as well, is the slight repetition of background information which I found slightly tedious. However, I can fully forgive Mr Flynn as he has done this to enable to the books to be read by first timers and this is a great advantage to them. Reading both The Third Option and Balance of Power in a week left me very tired from staying up late reading but more of the same from Vince Flynn is definitely in order!

This is a magnificent follow up to "Transfer of Power" and "Term Limits". You will find your self glue to the book and will have a hard time to putting it down. Mr Flynn has grown even more as a writer and his knowledge of the in and outs of the US inteligence communtity is superb, you will find yourself will a wealth of knowledge after reading it. Read it or you will miss out.

Sorry to say, but this offering is a bit of a clunker, just finished it and was shocked at how bereft of action this was. If I was after a novel full of political chicanery then this is it, but there are far better and more dynamic episodes of Mitch Rapp's career than this.
Slow paced and action light.

A tense thriller with, for me, too melodramatic a plot to carry me along. But what had a compelling if absurd fascination was the chick-lit quality of his writing. Macho-male meets retail-therapy bimbo. You think I exaggerate? See how he lovingly describes his top-of-the-range super-expensive guns and rifles. It was so disconcerting and incongruous that it had a certain addictive charm, but I shall not be reading another of his novels. If you going to shoot someone, get on with the job; don't drool over the tool as though it were a posh perfume. The Third Option

Read 'Transfer of Power' and was hooked from the start so I decided to read this; the next one in the sequence. I was as good as the other and I'm going to read the one after 'Separation of Power'.
If you like Lee Child/Jack Reacher then you should like these books.

I like his style of writing and the characters he writes about. Mitch Rapp is similar to Jack Reacher by Lee Child.

The political debates, games makes the book exceptionally good. A very well written thrilling book. I like to books in which the good and evil figures are separated and win the good.
