Libby Hamilton had no option but to move back home when she lost her job as a Chicago event planner. Finding it difficult to get a job, and realising that her relationship with her boyfriend is over, she agrees to help her father with his latest project - to restore an old schoolhouse building and turn it into a vintage ice-cream shop.
As well as getting used to life in a small town again, Libby also has to contend with her quirky and chaotic family - her Mother,currently annoyed at her father's decision to buy the schoolhouse without her knowledge; her "perfect" older and pregnant sister, Ginny, and her younger sister, Marti, who announces to the family that she is engaged to be married to a seemingly questionable, laid back youth.
Meanwhile, builder and restoration expert, Tom Murphy, is still trying to come to terms with the loss of his wife in a traffic accident. He had been driving when the accident happened just over a year ago and apart from being badly injured, blames himself for her death. His teenage daughter hates him and lives with his wife's parents. Tom just wants his daughter back in his home and to be happy again, but he doesn't know how so he immerses himself in his work - something he does know. Libby's father hires Tom to lead his project and so the two main characters are introduced.
Tracy Brogan weaves a captivating tale of two stubborn and different people who gradually fall in love despite the amusing, embarrassing, exasperating and satisfying situations they face, both from each other and from their respective families, as they work together on Mr Hamilton's ice cream shop. "Hold On My Heart" while entirely predictable, is well written, easy to read and very enjoyable - perfect for a feelgood holiday read or just some "me time".

I really enjoyed this book. It was a easy and pleasant read that made you want to finish the book.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Written well, I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good love story but not a slushy one.

I enjoyed the story but somehow knew how it was going to turnout. After saying that, I am going to miss the characters and wish there was an ice cream parlour like that one here.
