l also have read a few of his books before and have found them enjoyable. However this one is quite dire at best. The storyline is not plausible. It is too far fetched and daft.My main gripe is in the unrelenting emotional brutality and cruelty to the vulnerable boy.It is just too gratuitous for my taste. The trip to Australia is just pointless and stuck in there to further entrench the coldness to the poor boy..horrible book at most levels

l am a big Twins fan,and this is my first Guthrie CD..It is very ambient indeed and the sound evokes more of the early 80s new age sound of California than Cocteau albums..For me it is an inferior product as the sound is very similar throughout. There is no soaring, melodious guitar, very little audible bass or drums here, or changes of tempo, but rather a nice but slightly dull flat tone between quiet guitar and piano

l have all their studio albums. However l was not aware until l bought this album that the twins only began to get good playing live in the 1990s.Therefore just the last 3 tracks seem to me rather good. The 1980s stuff is not so well played. It is a bit empty of that wonderful lush, soaring sound of later years.Quite a few of the vocals are a bit too shouty for my taste. It seems that they split up when they were at the zenith of the ability. For me this is an album that l will not play often as the studio stuff is much better
