5.0 out of 5 stars Survive- Anywhere 17 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
No need for a long review here. This book was written by a professional soldier who was in the SAS, or the Special Air Service. For those not in the know, that's an elite unit of the British Army trained to carry out operations in ALL parts of the world. Eventually, the author became a survival instructor to the SAS, so you can be sure that this guy knows his stuff.

The book covers all you'd ever want to know about the essentials of surviving in climates such as: the polar region, mountains, seashores, islands, tropical regions, or even at sea. Here's few of the many topics the book covers:

-food, what you can and can't eat
-animal tracking with numerous pics
-color pics of edible plants
-pictures of traps and how to trap things
-how to handle animals you've killed for food
-how to make a camp and various shelters
-knot tying pics
-first aid
-color pics of medicinal plants
-picures of dangerous/poisonous critters
-things to have in a survival kit

A very handy resource for anybody who enjoys outdoor/wilderness activities, it's just a darn good thing to have around in case of emergencies- or even just to look at the pictures! Also recommend Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff if you have a shoulder problem that is interfering with your outdoor activities.

5.0 out of 5 stars SAS survival guide 1 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
For what I paid it's a bargain at 3.80 including postage! Very good little book, hundreds of pages on first aid and survival. I had this years ago as part of a first aid/survival kit and used it to make a shelter when I had to survive in the woods for 4 days as the survival part of a conservation course I did. Thanks to the instructions in this very compact little book I was able to quickly make a simple but effective shelter. Would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

This is about the 20th copy of this book that I've bought. I keep giving them to my friends. I also have the app on my iPhone. It is a really great book, and I always have a copy in my backpack along with a compass, signal mirror, whistle, snare wire... etc.

2.0 out of 5 stars Book 8 Feb 2014

If you need it in a survival situation ensure you have a magnifying glass and plenty of light (you will need to read the instructions for your light.......if you can find the magnifying glass first)
Great information, too small print though.

2.0 out of 5 stars I have no doubts that it may be useful.....but 18 Jan 2014

the size of it just put me off. it's no larger than my palm and all the info is crammed inside, written with a very small font. I need magnifying glass to read it! if it was half the size of A4 - it would have been perfect for me.

This little pocked sized book was bought as a present for my nephew, so I have just glanced through it. It is full of interesting facts. I was particularly interested in the section on which berries and mushrooms could be eaten! It is small enough to put in a rucksack when camping etc.
