Ive been a huge fan of kellys for some time. I think mobility wod and the concepts and ideas it showcases are new , intuitive and most importantly, work. I was excited when he announced he was bringing out a book, however I find most experts manuals lack the depth and detail to really get there ideas across. Supple leopard did not dissapoint. The two pages detailing Kellys how to brace concept are worth the fifty quid alone. I can honestly say that every concept, technique and process is explained in such concise, well photographed, detail that not once was I left with the, eh um, feeling that usually prevails. Kelly knows his stuff and is systemic and empiricist in his depth of knowledge. The quality of the book itself is fantastic, it will stand the test of time guys. All in all if your going to buy one excercise related book this year, I would highly recommend becoming a supple leopard

I've only recently found MobilityWOD, and after an hour or so of browsing the website, I knew I wanted to read this book. WOW, it doesn't disappoint! Kelly and Glen have produced something quite special here. This is the first book, that I've found, which covers the full spectrum from initial movement execution instruction, through identification of execution problems, to methods for restoring mobility of specific area AND spans all the major muscle groups/movement chains of the body in an accessible way. Yes, you've probably come across the the movement instructions/cueing in other books (Ripptoe and Kelly's 'Starting Strength', Pavel's 'Naked Warrior' or 'Enter the Kettlebell'); you can find the majority of the foam rolling or lacrosse ball muscle 'smashing' exercises on the 'net; and if you've spent any time exploring mobilitywod.com then most of the exercises will obviously be familiar to you; but the real beauty of this book is that all these tips and techniques are collated in one easy to access place and are placed within a broader contextual framework which enables both identification of dysfunction and effective self-administration of dysfunction solving techniques. Don't get me wrong, it's by no means a rehash of already available information, I learnt a ton of new stuff from this book and the clarity with which the authors explain the concepts is awesome. Kelly is obviously passionate about his subject and is a very good teacher. It's actually one of the few books I've got that I genuinely feel justifies the textbook price tag. It contains just the right balance of technical detail and practical demonstration which means that reading this book is a joy. Read more ›

I appreciate that Kelly has a big on-line following, and this has presumably resulted in the great interest in his book, but i wasn't that impressed with the content. It doesn't include any theory behind the principles and exercises, and whilst the photos are very clear, it's not immediately obvious how the book progresses the reader in terms of fitness. Some of the claims the book makes are also open to debate, and might interest trade descriptions. No references either to support any material, plus no index doesn't make it that user-friendly. I'm sure there are better out there.

Bought this book after hearing good things from other S&C; coaches. So far the book has been a great resource and some really useful mobilisation techniques that can be slotted into anyone's training programme. The exercise technique section is also a good resource to have and shows good knowledge and understanding. The only issue I have is the author's association with the 'C' word....Crossfit! I'm sure that's his main source of physio clients to be fair. Highly recommended book with easy to understand and practical methods.

Great manual to understand movement and correct patterns that affect mobility. Plenty of drills and techniques to fix dysfunction. Lacrosse balls are now a part of everyone of my athlete's toolbox's, to improve joint mobility, alleviate pain and stay functional.

i was unsure whether this book was up to what it claimed. it was bought for my son and husband; each having their own physical difficulties. to press, my son has been the main user, as he found it so benficial, now-one else has managed to get a look in. therefore the comments are based on his experience.
the book is very informitive with good clear pictures. it is very detailed in its description and appears to be having a positive effect on his receovery, even in this short period of time.

What Kelly Starrlett doesn't know about biomechanics and pain isn't worth knowing about.

Such a great book and really easy to read with excellent pics to accompany. Every possible inch of the of the body is covered and the techniques work!
