Sometimes when everything on TV seems rubbish, I stop it from being rubbish and make it awesome. To do this I watch a show called HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.

Season 4 carries straight on from the cliff-hanger ending of How I Met Your Mother - Season 3 [DVD] when Ted Mosby asks his girlfriend Stella to marry him. Told from the point of view of future Ted telling his kids the story of he met their mother, Ted and his friends Barney, Robin, Lily and Marshall face the everyday hurdles of modern-day living, love, careers and getting older. There's some really funny scenes in this series including the very memorable Naked Man episode as well as Ted's wedding; Barney not wanting to admit he's too old for this "stuff" and also trying to deal with his feelings for Robin; Robin copes with boredom and unemployment and awkward working hours; Lily plays with the idea of babies whilst her husband Marshall suffers a day at work wearing no trousers.

The highlight of the show for me (and anyone else I've spoken to about this show) has to be Barney Stintson and in this season his is as brilliant as ever, providing even more laughs, one-liners and new dating and bro rules. All of the other characters seem to suffer a little in this season though as I felt Lily and Marshall have became a little too mushy that it's becoming a bit ridiculous and unbelievable and for some reason the writers have changed Robin's character quite a bit, making her out to be not as kind and loveable as she was portrayed in earlier seasons. Ted has also became a little petty and quite miserable in a fair few episodes too.

Although this season is hilarious, it isn't quite as funny or as clever as some of the previous seasons but is still well above the quality of all the other sitcoms that are currently running (with the possible exception of The Big Bang Theory - Season 1 [DVD] [2007]) . If you've not seen any of HIMYM yet, I'd definitely recommend watching this from the beginning but whatever you do - do not miss out on this show. It is criminally un-heard of generally in the UK but that doesn't stop it from being legend..(wait for it)...dary!

True Story.

Just like the other three series, How I Met Your Mother Series Four is full of in-jokes, clever writing, witty humour and unforgettable catchphrases that you will be quoting for months. Best show on telly by a mile.

After the extreme slowness in releasing season 2, it's great to see new box sets coming out quickly now. If you haven't caught the show yet, the format is that in the future Ted tells his children a story of how he met their mother. This arc story allows us to meet his friends who are his sometimes girlfriend Robin, his unpleasant womanizer friend Barney, and Marshall and Lilly, a happy couple.

Season 4 keeps up the high standard as the characters become thirtysomethings. Mild spoilers are that the triangle storyline involving Stella, Ted and Robin moves on in dramatic fashion and Lilly and Marshall struggle with the children question. And Barney gets a more rounded and mature, but no less funny, character with feelings and humanity. There's also much fun to be had with the main leads' pregnancies, which aren't written into the show, but which are hidden in amusing ways. Most significantly the arc story takes large steps forward with hints that it may at last be getting close to revealing the truth about the show's title. The nice thing is that even though this mystery maguffin has been going on too long now, it's no longer all that important as it did what was required by giving the show a structure and making us care about everyone. Roll on season 5.

Another stellar season from the How I Met Your Mother gang. This show just gets better and better. I'm 100% hooked.

Being the 4th season, if you're considering buying this DVD, by now you have probably seen the previous three. Therefore, I don't need to explain just how great this TV show is and the 4th maintains the high standards of its predecessors.

The DVD came very quickly and at a very good price! I love the one of the series and this is one of best sitcoms of recent years. Would recommend this product to anyone

Whats not to like? The charicters are funny, and it has a good story line that unlike other sitcoms has a story line through the whole thing but it doesnt need followed. Each episode has its own small (funny) story line leading up to the finally finding out who the mother is. Its easy to watch, easy to follow and makes you LOL.

If you love how I met your mother you have to get this, funny, brilliant and laughing every minute! SUIT UP!

I love american sitcoms,Frasier,Friends,Seinfeld,8 Simple rules,Big Band Theory,all quality shows whose dvds have graced my cupboard but how anyone can like HIMYM baffles me!I appreciate from the other reviews that I am in a minority here but i have watched this show many times to see what there is to like about it and i can find nothing.A witless script coupled to a cast that lacks warmth and charm(and in Jason Segals case,any acting talent whatsoever)leaves me totally cold.Now,where did i put my Curb Your Enthusiasm dvd...!
