I very much enjoyed reading this account of the other side of cruising. The exclusive, luxury side where every whim or wish is granted (for a price). Heaven or hell ??? I guess if you're used to being waited on or served caviar while still in the swimming pool, then this is your normal. Hugh Thomson brought this micro world into clear focus. Very little about life on a luxury liner, and nothing about the Captain's table. More of a travelogue than a cruise ship story, but fairly interesting none the less.

I very much enjoyed reading this account of the other side of cruising. The exclusive, luxury side where every whim or wish is granted (for a price). Heaven or hell ??? I guess if you're used to being waited on or served caviar while still in the swimming pool, then this is your normal. Hugh Thomson brought this micro world into clear focus. Enjoyable, well written but as a "Amazon single" style book, I hankered for the longer version. An excellent choice for a flight or while sipping a champagne cocktail.
