Old fashioned Christmas magic,
By L. Moriarty (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Christmas List (Kindle Single) (Kindle Edition)
Chrissie Manby has written a lovely, heartwarming tale that will appeal to many age groups. The trials and tribulations of Millie, her love life and her family are suitably etched in a sweet 'happy-ever-after' story. This novella is a very easy read and leaves you on a very optimistic note.

Loved this novella. Couldn't put it down but didn't want it to end. Found myself laughing out loud in places.

I really enjoyed this novella by Chrissie Manby. It reminded me very much of my childhood and sending letters up the chimney to Santa Claus, though as I haven't done it as an adult, I haven't had the same results as Milly. Maybe I should try again.
Not long enough for someone who reads as fast as I do, but I can definitely recommend it, especially if you love Christmas and are "childlike" enough to suspend belief occasionally.

I have read Chrissie's books with delight for many years and was really excited when she asked me to review her latest one. So, thanks from me too Chrissie for this opportunity to review The Christmas List, what an honour!
I totally enjoyed following the endearing Milly and her wish lists, through her journey from being fanatical about Christmas, to dreading the whole festive season and back again. With help from her family and friends she makes it with only a few bumps and bruises along the way. This book has everything you hope for from a Christmas read - a good plot with traditional Christmas magic, a decent helping of romance, and a sprinkle of good humour. So pull the curtains, grab a hot chocolate and snuggle in the armchair with the latest brilliant novella from Chrissie. You are guaranteed a great read which leaves you feeling warm and cosy inside, and is guaranteed to get you thinking about your own Christmas list.

A magical Christmas Story!,
This review is from: The Christmas List (Kindle Single) (Kindle Edition)
Firstly I would like to thank Chrissie for allowing me to review The Christmas List, I really appreciate it.
I have been a fan of Chrissie Manby's for 13 years, at the age of 14 I picked up my first book of hers and I've loved her books ever since. So when I got the opportunity to review this book I practically hit my head on the ceiling from jumping with delight. This novella is absolutely brilliant, it's full of good old fashion Christmas magic. What more could you ask for? As well as that, there is a good quality dose of humour that had me giggling away. I loved Milly's absolute insane love of Christmas, because I'm just as nuts about Christmas as she is! Milly, a year earlier, was dragged to the pub by her sister, which was where she met Duncan. It's now nearly time for their first anniversary, but unfortunately for Milly Duncan has decided to break up with Milly. Milly is of course devastated and has to face seeing her family and joining in family traditions she would rather ignore this year. When Milly writes her list to Santa and she starts to receive the gifts she has asked for, she starts to wonder if she can ask for slightly more adventurous gifts the second time round. This was fun and endearing, a light hearted and magical Christmas story that you will find hard to put down. The Christmas List is available October 24th and a must read.

A lovely, sweet novella ...,

A lovely, sweet novella reminding you of time lost traditions passed from generation to generation. Milly was having an awful Christmas so wrote a wish list with her nephews and thought nothing more of it. A charming novel filled with lovely warm characters and storyline with a little humour and love. Recommend this book to lift your spirits at Christmastime.

This is a wonderful, feel good, festive treat! Read with a mince pie and some Baileys,
This review is from: The Christmas List (Kindle Single) (Kindle Edition)
I LOVED this book so so much!! It was typical Chrissie Manby style, witty, warm and really funny. There were surprises, a few tears, and loads of proper laugh out loud moments. Milly is so lovable, you warm to her instantly and feel a teeny bit sorry for her at the beginning of the book. But that soon changes to cheering her on. Her sisters, Cal and Jen, are sweet and made me wish I had grown up with sisters, instead of my pain in the butt brother. Jake and George, the little nephews, are adorable little monkeys!
The premise of this novella is cute and one that I'm sure we've all wished for. We've all written Christmas lists and letters to Santa and hoped really hard that the wishes would come true. Only, we're not usually lucky enough to have it happen! I loved the family traditions the girls observed and it made me miss our old fashioned family Christmases back in Canada. All warm, smelling like turkey, lots of snow on the ground and surrounded by family and friends. And of course, the obligatory Christmas tipple, Baileys!! This is a wonderful, feel good, festive treat! Read with a mince pie and some Baileys! 5/5

Easy, sweet read, lovely story, well written and nicely descriptive. I shall be reading more of her books as I like the way she writes, nothing heavy and...I do like a happy ending!
