Product Description

Be Careful What You Wish For opens with Harry Clifton and his wife Emma rushing to hospital to learn the fate of their son Sebastian, who has been involved in a fatal car accident. But who died, Sebastian or his best friend Bruno?

When Ross Buchanan is forced to resign as chairman of the Barrington Shipping Company, Emma Clifton wants to replace him. But Don Pedro Martinez intends to install his puppet, the egregious Major Alex Fisher, in order to destroy the Barrington family firm just as the company plans to build its new luxury liner, the MV Buckingham.

Back in London, Harry and Emma’s adopted daughter wins a scholarship to the Slade Academy of Art where she falls in love with a fellow student, Clive Bingham, who asks her to marry him. Both families are delighted until Priscilla Bingham, Jessica’s future mother-in-law, has a visit from an old friend, Lady Virginia Fenwick, who drops her particular brand of poison into the wedding chalice.

Then, without warning, Cedric Hardcastle, a bluff Yorkshireman who no one has come across before, takes his place on the board of Barringtons. This causes an upheaval that none of them could have anticipated, and will change the lives of every member of the Clifton and Barrington families.

Hardcastle’s first decision is who to support to become the next chairman of the board: Emma Clifton or Major Alex Fisher? And with that decision, the story takes yet another twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be careful! It's another page-turner. 19 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Another brilliant book in the series. Now I've finished it, I can get out more. Roll on 2015 for the next one. [Anyone else think it's a little odd for 2 'readers' to review the book without actually reading it?]

The eagerly awaited latest book in the Clifton Chronicles series. As ever full of twists and intrigues. I can,t believe I have to wait until 2015 to find out what happens on the Buckingham. Jeffrey Archer has done it again.

In the fourth Clifton Cronicles we await the fate of young Sebastian Clifton and Bruno Martinez after their horrific car accident on the A1 but who survived well you find out very early on before delving into more drama and suspense. A beloved character meets her ironic demise and Don Pedro Martinez still holds a strong vendetta against the Barrington and Clifton Families. Lady Virginia once again installs her vulgar opinions and a child is born as well as much more. A must read as it's predecessors have been.

2.0 out of 5 stars found it lacking 25 Mar 2014

Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
so sorry to have to say this as I have enjoyed all of his books, up to now. feel cheated as yet again a cliffhanger and another year to wait for next volume, I feel old Jeffrey is milking this story, there are some good bits, but not up to or near his standard.

3.0 out of 5 stars Getting very predictable and long winded! 29 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I looked forward to this next instalment. I have to say this epic ongoing story is getting very predictable and extremely long winded. Mr Archer must be laughing his head off as we all continue to purchase each instalment. He has obviously taken a leaf out of J K Rowling's Harry Potter and realised he can almost be as rich as her by stringing this out as long as possible. Pity because I love Archer but this is taking the mockery out of his very loyal readers.
