5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book. It had me hooked from page one!
As a thriller/mystery fan I do expect to be held in suspense throughout a book. To me that is what reading a thriller is all about. 5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book. It had me hooked from page one!, 22 Jun 2012
This review is from: EMBRYO 1 (EMBRYO: A Raney & Levine Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
As a thriller/mystery fan I do expect to be held in suspense throughout a book. To me that is what reading a thriller is all about. Your heart is racing, you're gripped and riveted to the story and so your book or Kindle is whipped out at every opportunity. You come to the end of a chapter but you just don't want to stop because the suspense is just intoxicating. This is what I got from Embryo. Suspense, excitement, thrills, chases and more!

The main character, Jill, is a woman to be reckoned with. She is feisty, gutsy and not to be underestimated. The author very cleverly infers her morals without explicitly stating the fact. Where other characters in the story hide their heads in the sand, Jill is fearless, diligent and tenacious in her determination to get to the bottom of what is going on.

The story is set in a hospital, a medical based thriller. The author uses medical terminology and describes procedures without getting too technical and bogged down with in depth descriptions of medical practices. It is written in such a way that it is really rather fascinating and also easy to understand without being patronising.

Whilst this book is an exciting thriller first and foremost it also encourages the reader to think about the moral and ethical issues surrounding embryonic and stem cell research and experimentation. I have certainly gained some medical knowledge and insight into this field of science and now I understand more, the possibilities and also the negatives of this kind of medicine.

I loved this book. It had me gripped from page one right to the last. My only criticism would be that, as always, all good things must come to an end!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thriller, mystery, suspense with action and intrigue. A very cleverly written plot and also quite educational and very thought provoking.

Embryo is a great book to read. Its very well written with good central characters. A medical mystery, but one where the author actually knows the medical terms and procedures.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling read - recommended, 4 Jan 2013
This review is from: EMBRYO 1 (EMBRYO: A Raney & Levine Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
An enjoyable fast paced plot, believable characters and good atmospheric settings all combine to make an excellent thriller. The author employs medical terminology in a manner that intrigues rather than confuses lay-people, thereby reinforcing the credibility of the story line, which asks the question how far should our species be permitted to go in the quest for perfection?

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent read, I couldn't put it down, 17 Oct 2012
This review is from: EMBRYO 1 (EMBRYO: A Raney & Levine Thriller) (Kindle Edition)
This is exactly the kind of book I love to read - clever, exciting and chilling. As a student midwife I thought it was a very clever and hugely interesting read. As a mum, I found myself getting incredibly emotional and even had a lump in my throat at times! It is an exceptionally clever author who can tug on so many different emotions and still keep you coming back for more and that's what this book has. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. I couldn't recommend it enough, excellent read

This isn't something I would normally read, mainly because I hadn't heard of a medical thriller, and romance in books tends to put me off. The synopsis drew me in and I'm so glad I decided to read it! It's a very interesting and intrigueing read. The factual element is excellent and I had no problem understanding any of it because the author cleverly weaves it all into the story without making you feel as though you picked up a textbook. This is a great thriller which enfolds you into it's twists and turns and leaves you asking many questions about who can be trusted within the walls of this dark, creepy hospital. Brilliant!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not my usual, 24 May 2014

I'm not usually into medical thrillers, I faint just watching Holby city, however I thought reading this might not be the best thing to do but the blurb was to good not to and it didn't disappoint. Written with great pace and style, sweeping you up into a good thriller quite quickly. The characters are well written and believable which is great because it adds to the intense story line.
Dare not think if there's any element of truth though! Look forward to reading more from this author.
