Having seen this previously at the theatre there is one moment that everyone will be listening out for, (you know the one!), and when it happens it was the kind of creepy that gets under your skin, and I am not ashamed to say I spent the majority of this film with my friend hiding behind our hands urging him to get out of the house. Most of the horror is subtle, the 'corner of your eye' stuff that really sticks with you, though when the jumpy scares do come they're not at all the overdone, cheesy ghosts that many horror films produce.

.It's an atmospheric and beautifully shot movie with remarkable attention paid to London of the 1890's including a wonderful set-piece on an incompleted Tower bridge.The whole production design is gorgeous and includes a wonderful score by Hans Zimmer,easily one of his best.
Overall,this is superb entertainment which is intriguing,full of action and very witty!

It was as ridiculous as I expected, and full of visual and spoken gags. The storyline, whilst far fetched, contained so much that is real to life that it began to seem like it could happen! I liked the fact that the Germans actually spoke German, which was subtitled - too many films have everybody speaking English, no matter who the character or where they are from!
