What are the benefits of participating in Search Inside!^TM?

Search Inside!^TM is a revolutionary way for publishers/authors to merchandise their titles on Amazon.co.uk. When our customers search for books on Amazon.co.uk, we use the actual words from inside participating books - not just the author, title, and keywords supplied by the publisher - to return the best possible selection of books in their search results. Customers can even view sample book pages to help them confirm that the title is just right for them.

All of this helps you sell more books.

Does it cost anything to participate?

There is no charge to participate in the Search Inside!^TM programme. The only cost to you is the cost of providing Amazon with either a physical or electronic copy of the title(s) that you would like to enrol in the programme.

Can customers view the whole book?

No. In addition to sample pages, the customer can search inside and browse through a limited number of pages. Additionally, a portion of each book is restricted from viewing so that no book is completely viewable by any set of customers.

Can I request that specific pages of my book be restricted from being displayed in Search Inside!^TM?

Unfortunately, no. We cannot accommodate special requests.

Once I submit my book, how long will it take until it appears in Search Inside!^TM?

We try to add all new books to the Search Inside!^TM programme as quickly as possible. Typically, it takes six to eight weeks from when we receive a physical book until it appears on Amazon.co.uk. Electronic submissions (PDFs) typically appear on Amazon.co.uk within three to five weeks of being uploaded.

If a book is published in both hardback and paperback formats, does Amazon require both?

No. However, we will accept both, as cover pages and formatting often differ.

Can I submit my title(s) in PDF format?

Yes. In fact, titles provided in PDF format often make their way into the programme faster than physical books because they are easier for us to process.

How do I get started?

The first step is to complete the sign-up form and agree to the terms and conditions of the programme. Please note that you must be the exclusive rights holder (copyright, as well as marketing/promotional rights) of the title(s) that you wish to submit to the programme.

Once completed, you will receive an email with all of the necessary details as to how to submit your title(s) to the programme.

Which Amazon websites will show the Look Inside preview of my books?

The default approval setting for SITB is Worldwide. Under this setting, books in SITB will be displayed on all Amazon Properties where they are offered and where the SITB feature is available.

How do I change the SITB country approval settings for my titles?

You can change approval settings for all titles in your SITB account or for an individual title by following the following Program procedures:

• Account Level: Approval settings can be modified at the publisher account level. To change approval settings for all titles in your SITB account please submit a request to searchinside-submission@amazon.co.uk. In the e-mail, please include a complete list of your ISBNs and the name of any country where you do not want to have your titles approved for SITB (i.e. countries where you do not have appropriate publishing and/or distribution rights).
• Individual Title Level: Country-specific approvals can be set at the individual title level. By default, titles approvals are set based on the SITB account level approval settings. If you want to modify approval settings for a specific title please submit a request to searchinside-submission@amazon.co.uk. In the e-mail, specify the title, ISBN, and the name of any country where you do not want to have the title approved for SITB (i.e. countries where you do not have appropriate publishing and/or distribution rights for the particular title).
