Maca root is good stuff,

This review is from: Naturya Organic Maca 300 g Nutritional Power Food Pouch (Grocery)
I don't know if it is placebo effect from knowing that I am consuming a more nutritious diet (paleo lite with lots of fruit, nuts, seeds, eggs and vegetables) but after eating a tablespoon of Maca powder in my porridge and muesli every morning for several weeks, I noticed that I now have a lot more energy and stamina when riding my mountain bike and have an increased feeling of general well being, is it down to the Maca powder? I can't say for sure but I am on my third pack of it now and will be buying another one when that is finished.....

How to make it taste good,

First time, I dumped a table spoon onto my porridge - disgusting. This is how to take it: you get a shaker put some skimmed milk in, add the maca (I put a teaspoon or two), add a teaspoon of cacao and a squirt of agave syrup. Shake. Drink. It's pretty tasty!
Benefits wise - I feel it works. At first I was bouncing off the walls with a soup spoon of it every morning. It definitely regulates hormones and gives you a tonne of energy. I highly recommend it.

I'm not the biggest fan of the taste but that's a very good, quality product. I mix it with orange juice & it's not bad. Would recommend!

It's a good supplement. It gives you an energy boost. I have it with smoothies or sprinkle it in my food. Will buy again when I run out. Thank you.

Okay, let's clear one thing up before we go on: maca root smells and tastes...bad! It has a potent vegetable smell - imagine drinking slightly stale, pungent, concentrated parsnip juice.
Now, let me say this: maca root is a vegetable. It smells like a veg, it tastes like a veg, so I wouldn't go sprinkling it on your fruit or putting it in your cereal - unless you like vegetables in your cereal :-/ Right! Let's skip to the effects, but just before I do, let me tell you how I've been taking maca root. The first three occasions, I sprinkled it into my cereal...not good! The next few times, I tried stirring it into cold water and downing in one...gave me stomach ache. So, what did I end up doing - I ended up buying gel caps and shoveling the stuff into the caps with a plastic drinking straw. Sorry, but I can't eat, drink, or taste that powder...it's not for me. Okey dokey, where were we. Right, the dose! A TABLESPOON?? You've got to be kidding me! I've found that half a TEASPOON in the morning with food and half a teaspoon with dinner in the evening is plenty! I've gel-capped mine, so I swallow two size 0 gel caps in the morn, 2 in the eve. If I take more than a teaspoon in the morning it makes me aggressive, or very emotional. It messes with the hormones! The effects may differ with each person but this is one VERY IMPORTANT thing to remember with maca root: experiment with dosage! Everyone is different. Take up to two weeks trying different dosage levels and see how you feel. Like I said, I've settled with a teaspoon each day - half morning, half evening. There is no mention on the packaging of the importance of taking regular breaks from your maca routine. I suggest a break of 2 days out of every five, meaning: take it monday-friday, break saturday and sunday. Then take a 4 day break at the end of every month. Google for more info on the importance of regular breaks. Okay - this is for the men: It makes you horny! It makes you very horny! To see and appreciate the female form through maca-drenched eyeballs is a pure delight! That's all I can say! ;) This stuff is potent! Let it be said: be careful. Dose low to start with and experiment. Remember: it's an adaptogen! Well done to Naturya for a good blend and good packaging. I have no qualms about your maca root, but I shall be buying capped ones in the future - I can't stand that smell and taste.

Everything Maca so far.,

I have been using this product for just under a week. Sprinkling it on my cereal in the mornings and occasionally stirring it into soups, drinks, even ice cream sometimes. The taste takes a little getting used to. Its somewhat nutty and a bit bitter. But everyone has their own taste and if you are fond of radishes or turnips which I am, and which the Maca root is related to then you won't mind this. The texture is similar to cocoa, and again there is a hint of a cocoa-like taste too.
With regards to the affects. I feel great!. More overall energy, with the ability to concentrate with more ease and focus than in recent years. I am generally more alert and active than usual and as a personality I am not prone to suggestibility, as I am generally fairly cautious about products such as these and unafraid to write fads off as rubbish. This is definitely not a waste of time or money, despite being fairly expensive. However if you are someone who relies on coffee or other caffeine based drinks you may find you need them less and can make a saving on these less than healthy foods. Finally research the product as there are some contraindications. I found the link below particularly useful. http://www.drugs.com/npp/maca.html One word of warning. Stick to the recommended dose on the packet which on the Naturya product suggests 10-15 grams per day. I was perhaps too enthusiastic the first couple of days overdoing the sprinkling, and dashed around like a herbalised version of Arnold Schwarzenegger. It also made me aggressive on a couple of occasions, so depending on your constitution be sensible.

Since so many have expressed that they don't know how to take it, here's my recommendation:
blend maca into a smoothie, works well with banana, yoghurt, i often add cacao and blueberries ~ or some bee pollen and im super energised for the day :-)

My husband says that this tastes disgusting! He has been drinking it with fruit juices to help to drink it. It is having a beneficial impact on husband's health though - very happy.
