Comfortable, quick, and accurate blood pressure monitoring is now even easier with this fully automatic digital upper arm monitor. It gives early warning of potential health issues with an irregular heartbeat detector.
With the Omron M2, protection against hypertension is in your hands. While the easy-to-wrap cuff fits most adult arms (22–32 cm circumference), the cuff wrapping guide ensures correct fitting, and the large display makes the results clear and easy to read.
The technology
- Cuff wrapping guide – tells you when the arm cuff has been placed correctly
- Irregular heartbeat detection – a symbol appears if an irregular heartbeat has been detected whilst a measurement has been taken
- Blood pressure level indicator – shows you if your blood pressure is outside the normal range
Hypertension – what is blood pressure?
- The heart is a very powerful pump that beats steadily
- The pressure created by the heart to pump the blood through the blood vessels is called blood pressure
- When the heart muscle contracts the blood surges through the arteries – this is when the systolic (upper) blood pressure value occurs
- The diastolic (lower) value is the resting pressure before the heart contracts again
- Ideally your blood pressure should be below 140/85 mmHg

This is a good basic BP monitor, this is not a cheap device, there are better specified units out there that offer more functions for less money but this unit had a lot going for it despite that. It is well built, easy to use and accurate, and there is not much more you need. It lacks whistles and bells such as the ability to download data, multiple user support, the ability to average daily or cumulative readings, does not gives alerts for unusually high readings.
If you need a well made and reliable Blood Pressure monitor for occasional use then you could do much worse than purchase this model.

Importantly this is clinically validated for accurate and reliable readings. Easy to use and comfortable cuff. Memorises last 30 readings for looking back at BP history. Can't comment on 'irregular heartbeat facility' as I don't seem to have one and I don't want it to read positive either. But a good thing for it to have in case. It's pretty much proven that BP checks at home are the best indicators of usual BP, as at the Doctors it is often elevated just due to being there!

After owning quite a few different blood pressure monitors I think I can give a decent review on this monitor. Although it is not at the top of the range it does a good job. It is quite basic with a couple of differences to my previous M2 monitor, which make a difference. The cord on the arm piece has a flexible motion so it is less likely to wear out quickly. The other plus on this monitor is that it shows if you have an erratic heart beat which can be a life saver. It is well worth buying.

I bought another model and gave it to my daughter. This one I find certainly better and would not hesitate in recommending it. It is compact like all others and comes supplied with 4 Duracell batteries and a neat little carrying case. Ideal for the home. I never thought I would need one but after having to go for blood pressure tests over a period of time it was easier and more suitable to have my own and then ring in to the surgery when they required a reading.

The only thing stopping this getting five stars is that I haven't had it long enough to test it's longevity. On first few uses it's really good, though. I like how quiet it is in use and that it has a case and the batteries with it, unlike the previous Omron one I had. There is a facility for remembering the last thirty readings and a reading is easily stored by pressing the button next to the on off button. It is well made and I am satisfied with it so far.
