5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly 22 Dec 2013
By L. Hennessy TOP 100 REVIEWER
Amazon Vine Review (What's this?)
I was a bit wary of firing so many of these staples into the skirting boards of my lovely flat, but I needn't have worried - not only is this easy to load and use (although it is a bit heavy), the staples are pushed only so far into the plaster, meaning that I can remove them without major damage or difficulty, and that the cables themselves won't get damaged by the staples either.

Well made, and does the job extremely efficiently too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very neat network cabling 2 Dec 2013
By M. Williams TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Amazon Vine Review (What's this?)
I got this stapler because I had a specialist come in and install network cabling in our office and he used a similar device, which gave spectacularly neat results.

You do need to practice a little bit to make sure you don't staple straight through your cable, but it's not rocket science, you just need to be careful.

And then you can enjoy cabling that runs along the groove in your skirting, around door frames, that sort of thing. Much nicer than those plastic clips with a nail going through them that need to be hammered into place, looking unsightly and damaging their surroundings.

The Tacwise 1153 is a hefty piece of metal and feels like it is going to have a long life. It would have been nice if it came in a case to store it in, rather than just the display packaging, but on the plus size this means it doesn't take up much storage space, which is, unless you're doing cable installation for a living, where it's going to spend most of its time.

5.0 out of 5 stars This tool is excellent 30 Nov 2013
By JB TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Amazon Vine Review (What's this?)
Perhaps like most people, running and fixing satellite and other low-voltage cable
involves using ugly little plastic clips and a hammer and for me the task always results
in bashed fingers and thumbs.

This cable tacker really is a professional's tool. It's made from steel and is quite
heavy (around 900 grams). I used the tacker to fix around 30 metres of satellite
cable; no bashed digits, no ugly clips and a really neat job.

The gun is able to use two sizes of staple and it's very easy to load. I had a practise
on an off-cut of cable first. It's simple to use; the tip of the tacker is shaped to
accommodate the cable and there's another guide further along the base so aligning
the gun with the cable is a doddle.

The driving force of the tacker can be adjusted to ensure the staples do not kink the
cable. Forced too tightly over the cable, the staples will crush the foam jacket inside
the cable.

Out of interest I did a bit of research regarding the spacing of the staples and to
summarise, this is what I found:

On vertical runs, fix from the top down and remember to clip before and after bends
(never bend cable around a radius smaller than 75mm).

Interestingly (for me anyway) one source of advice suggested not to space staples
evenly. Apparently any type of fastener will squash the cable slightly and when coaxial
cable is deformed, it reflects portions of the signal toward the source. If the deformed
sections are evenly spaced, the reflections become rhythmic, which can cause double
imaging. On satellite cable, the reflections can interfere with the quality of the signal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect item 28 Nov 2013
By Rob Smith TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Amazon Vine Review (What's this?)
I am asked from time to time to install satellite, Its not something I do much, I install as a favor.

In the passed I've struggled with a hammer and plastic cable grips which are always a pain as is my thumb after using a hammer for a while.

I wanted to install a TV aerial for my boys room but didn't fancy running the cable around the house, I knew it would take me an age to do, then I spotted The Tacwise which looked an idea solution and boy does it do a good job, It took no time to clip the cable to just about any surface. What would of taken my hours took me 10 minutes to complete and the results are better than my hammer could of done.

Its easy to load and use, I'm very happy with it now has its own space in my tool cabinet

5.0 out of 5 stars Rather Good 28 Nov 2013
By Sussman TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Amazon Vine Review (What's this?)
The Tacwise 1153 Combi Cable Stapler can use 4.5 and 6mm cable staples CT45 and CT60 staples

This is a very good stapler, which has made light-work of securing the cabling of a new CCTV installation. The stapler itself is nicely made and feels robust.
Loading the staples into the device is relatively straight forward. While in use it has caused no issues whatsoever. It has taken the odd knocks and short drops in its stride.
The staple gun feels comfortable to grip; it never had a jam or distorted a staple while in use. Overall it made the job at hand a real `breeze', a much better and more efficient way to tack in cables then using a small hammer, this should be standard fare in anyone's DIY tool kit

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job for Christmas! 28 Nov 2013
By S Finnerty TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Amazon Vine Review (What's this?)
This looks the same as the stapler I used as a telephone engineer and feels equally sturdy. It has a number of improvements such as a plastic stop so that you don't catch your fingers and two power settings. This is a specialised stapler for securing telephone, cat 5/6 data cables etc. Another use is christmas lights which is why I ordered it! The staples are not driven all the way home as that would damage the cable but far enough in to hold the cable securely. I suggest you experiment with the two power settings before doing a long run to ensure the cable is secured correctly as this is dependant on the length of staple and the surface. As long as the cable is robust enough it can be easily removed by firmly pulling it away taking the staple with it, much easier than plastic cleats. A quick tip is the stretch and smooth the cable before tacking so that it lays smoothly against the surface and does not wrinkle up. The stapler will accept both CT45 and CT60 staples for different sized cables and different colours are also available for an extra neat job. To summerise a solid and well designed piece of equipment.
