Review

An excellent detailed, yet concise A&P textbook; a valuable learning tool for nursing students at all levels. (2 nd year student nurse, University of Nottingham) An exceptional book looking at the anatomy and physiology of the human body which would be an invaluable addition to any nursing students’ studies…It was a pleasure to read and will be a valuable resource for my studies. (1 st year student nurse, Glyndwr University) An excellent book for providing a good introduction into the wonders of each system of the body… I would recommend to my lecturers without doubt. ( 2 nd year student nurse, University of Salford) This resource would be useful to me throughout my nursing training and beyond. .. I like the style this book is written in. The language is communicative, and easy to relate to. The subject matters are explained well, and made very comprehensible. Well structured and easy to access. (1 st year student nurse, City University, London) I like the written style of the book, it is clear, concise and academic. (1 st year student nurse, Bucks New University) The diagrams, tables, figures and illustrations are excellent… I will be showing this copy to everyone. (2 nd year student nurse, University of East Anglia) It allows the reader to gain a good sound level of knowledge of anatomy and physiology; prefect for my first year educational needs (1 st year student nurse, Glasgow Caledonian University) This book would be most useful for first years as it explains everything simply and clearly, but would be a good reference tool for every year while studying, and when in your career. (2 nd year student nurse, Glasgow Caledonian University) Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology for Student Nurses will be useful throughout my entire course. …I am very pleased with this book. I love the colour and layout .  (1 st year student nurse, University of Abertay Dundee) More than just a biology book – it actually relates to what a nurse needs to know in practice. (2 nd year student nurse, Canterbury Christ Church University)

This is an excellent book for nurses who are studying human physiology and anatomy. It is excellently illustrated throughout and the explanations of how the body works are easy to understand and grasp. I have started to use it in my own classes and my students like it a great deal.

This A&P; was a highly recommended book to me, as I'm currently doing my Adult Nurse training. The product was delivered promptly and in perfect condition. It's set out in an easy to read format, with activity questions at the end of each chapter.

I have many books on anatomy and physiology and very few on both subjects combined. However I was interested in this book because part of my job as a physician is educating juniors as well as allied medical staff, so my interest was to see the language usuage and how easily hyphaluting concepts are explained. I am very pleased with the simpliclity and the down to earth way in which this book is written, with clear learning objectives at the begining of each chapter; Glossaries at the end of each chapter to explain medical jargon, and the interactive way in which the teaching is set out chapter by chapter with pictures, quizzes, puzzles and mcqs to test your knowledge. This is a very good book for learning and aslo for teaching. I like it a lot and would reccomend it to all medical and allied health students.

Clearly laid out, with colour-coded learning objectives for each section, brightly coloured illustrations, clarity of explanation, and a decent index. The structure and layout here should convince even the most nervous student that they are in safe hands. Each section closes with a series of useful revision exercises. However for a more comprehensive selection of effective revision and learning techniques, I would recommend the brilliant Great Ways to Learn Anatomy and Physiology (Palgrave Study Skills) an essential study guide by Charmaine McKissock.

I would suggest that students who wish to get the most from their study of A&P; combine this attractive newcomer with the 'Great Ways' wider range of study tips, as together they are likely to prove the new 'gold standard' for the study of this subject area.

As someone who trained in herbal medicine not so long ago, this book would have been a real blessing for trying to drum anatomy and physiology into my head, being a good deal more portable and less densely written than the hoary old textbooks we used at the time. The book is divided into useful sections, all colour coded and easily tracked down, with the first chapters being full of useful tables, conversions of units of measurements and basic explanations of chemistry, including discussions of atomic bonding, the elements in general and a short piece on acids and bases, all finished off with a rather more entertaining and interesting self test section at the end. The chapter itself is a good brief introduction to the complex subject of biochemistry and helps the reader to better understand how complex molecules have a place in the human body - a difficult feat, as in my experience it has been difficult to truly understand how everything connects together with the way other books have been written.

Perhaps some of the best things about the book would be the way the authors have summed up sections of the book, for example inflammation, into a list of bullet points, making it a good deal easier to remember signs and symptoms, before then moving on to look at diseases that cause inflammation.

All in all, I've found this book interesting and informative, and will be reading it from cover to cover in the near future as a very useful way to brush up on anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.

Recommended.

Simple concise textbook which delivers the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology - which is in some instances a difficult subject to grasp - in a clear way, with set learning objectives within each chapter, and well set out picture quizzes , multiple choice questions and glossaries to check what has been learned.
There is a companion website which can be used to augment what is learned with further tests.
I would recommend it to nursing and physiology students, it's also useful as revision and to look up things quickly when teaching!

The information in this book is provided in a very clear and concise manner which makes learning very easy. The page edges of each chapter are coloured for ease of finding information, and there is a quiz to test your own knowledge at the end of each chapter which takes various forms such as a crossword or other puzzles. All of this makes absorbing the information and checking that you have understood it very easy indeed.

As far as the content of the book itself is concerned, although I am not a student nurse I have attended many medical courses up to and above ambulance technician level, and the information in this book is certainly of a depth to cover most if not all of the knowledge needed on the course. I have even recommended that our training department replace our current books with this volume.

Overall this is a very well written book aimed at the right level.
