We bought this for a trek up Snowdon, our dog loved it and was great so that he could carry his own stuff plus an extra bottle of water. The only thing I'd suggest is more colour choices!

Great product with couple of minor flaws (but that could be just our dogs:)),

Have 2 border collies and they both really like their rucksacks (or maybe they just know they are going an epic walk once they have them on,) loads of pockets, very well made and most importantly dogs aren't in any discomfort while wearing them. Only two concerns, both our dogs are slap bang in the middle of weight range for the medium bags but even with the all the straps tightened up to the maximum they are still slightly loose, think this is down to the dogs being very fit and therefore quite heavy with no extra bulk. The second minor problem is the straps which go under the dogs can come loose at times, especially if the dogs are running hard. This isn't really a problem for us as ours are very cooperative, but imagine this could be a difficulty with some dogs.
Overall think this is a great idea which works very well. Our dogs love them and it means we don't have to carry their stuff when going for long walks, which is always a bonus.

Super!,

Super product; our ADHD dog enjoys it, makes him tired in an hour walk (with 5-6 kg weight in the bags). Good quality.

I've wanted a backpack for my dog for months and have finally gotten around to buying one. The idea is fabulous!! The actual product was wonderful to look at and for that alone, it should have 5 stars. However, i have only given it 2 because i tried like a nutter to get it to fit my dogs and i couldn't.
Both were measured for the sizings and this was bought for a perfectly sized medium dog, a border collie x kelpie, so plenty of energy. By the time i had gotten it to fit her, the pack didn't sit where it was supposed to and she looked a sight. So, i thought, that's ok, order a small and this one can go on the bigger dog. The large dog is a collie x rottweiler but with rottie height and a slightly narrower chest, so a good solid dog again. But again, the pack just didn't sit as it was supposed to. This time for her, when it was a tight as it could possibly go, it was cutting her under her legs. We even weighted it down with a couple of bags of sugar (1 either side) and walked her around the room. It couldn't possibly go tighter yet the pack was sliding all over the place, yet her size would match the size for the large. So the pack has been returned and i've ordered 2 of another make. It is such a pity because the reason i ordered this was because of the design of the harness. In a dream world my mutts will have the Ruffwear packs but i'm not made of money. I've ordered the Kurgo wander pack for them, 1 each, to try. If that doesn't work then we'll have to try another design, but it appears that the ones with the best design are the most expensive ones!

Love this product arrived on time.
Good quality, pockets larger than expected and very easy to fit onto my 9 month old lab. A bit of adjusting needed to get it to fit but nothing that any other product would not need. There is definately room for this item to grow with my lab, so will not need to buy another one as I currently have it on the smallest setting. Tried my lab with out anything in the pockets to see how it sat and how she was with it, she is like a different dog wearing it. No pulling, seems to not bother her at all. Would recommend this make as it is very good quality for the price paid.

I would have classed my dog,(a small collie cross),as staddling small and medium but I ordered small and am very glad I did. Even this is a little large for him and I think I may have to do some home alterations for perfection. Other than that it is great. It solves that problem women have of no pockets or not big enough and not wanting to carry a bag while walking the dog just for a mobile and a small amount of money. We are still building up to the water bottle.

Excellent for our Husky. Fits perfectly, he now carries his own water, treats and poop bag on our hikes.
Only problem I find with it, it could do with an extra underneath strap only because the bags move around quite abit and from side to side at the back. otherthan that its an excellent backpack, looks nice, doesn't rub on his skin, does the job. People always comment on it and ask us where its from.

Must admit I was dubious when I heard these could help stop dogs pulling. However my dalmatian girl is 3 and I've tried everything under the sun to stop this. But I thought I've tried everything else, if nothing else she can carry the various things you need when out with your dogs. But! I've been amazed, I put small coke bottles with water in each pocket unless I want her to carry other things. Mindful of weight, and it s worked. So far she's been a model dog, she's never been so obedient when on lead.

Poor sizing chaffed my boy,

I bought this after reading many good reviews and as my Cocker Spaniel was between sizes I decided to go for the smaller as many had said that theirs were too big.
The backpack is well built and looks awesome but the belly strap sat right behind his front legs. He never complained and seemed happy to trot along with his cool new backpack. We went for a few short walks in dry weather and had absolutely no problems, everyone we passed commented on how cute or cool he looked. But the problem occurred after a long hike in the rain, still he didn't complain but I've now noticed him licking and chewing his armpits (I know dogs don't have armpits but you catch my drift). He's suffering from chaffing from the wet bag straps. I feel like a terrible owner and unfortunately this backpack will be resigned from use. I do not mean for this to be a scathing review hence the 3 stars but, I want to point this out as a potential problem so that you can avoid it. The backpack looks great and is very well built just be careful with your sizing. |
