Product Description

The Hurricane series from TYR represents the combination of a huge amount of time and effort in development and engineering. This is to ensure the end result is as competitive and high performing as possible. The C1 wetsuit has the same features as the rest of the Hurricane series, but everything has been scaled down for a more streamlined shape in the water. TYR has collaborated with Ironman Champion Andy Potts to create this lighter version wetsuit. It may not be as advanced as the C1 and C3 versions, but is lighter, slimmer and suited to aspiring athletes. The Free R.O.M zones mean that there is a huge amount of flexibility and that your stroke and other movements won't be impeded. The Speed Wrap Panelling is made from extremely lightweight Yamamoto neoprene and situated on the leg and chest to keep you buoyant in the water and reduce drag. All these features create a launch pad to cut through the water with low levels of friction, rigidity and weight; propelling you through the water and onto the next leg. While the entire outside surface of the suit is coated in Yamamoto Nano SCS rubber for greater buoyancy, the interior is made from a soft-jersey fabric making you feel comfortable on the inside. Key details have been followed right to every edge of these suits. The cuffs at the wrists are form-fitting, enabling you to stretch for long, powerful strokes without the suit moving, or allowing water to get inside, as it hugs to your skin. At the ankles, there are quick-release cuffs that are tapered down the leg; these allow the suit to reverse and open quickly during your transition from T1. While the graded panels running down the forearm help aid catch-and-pull strokes. This is a suit that supplies all the features required by an athlete. Everything is focused on getting the job done as quickly as possible, with the smallest effort. As the first stage of a triathl

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wetsuit, Look like a Pro 22 Dec 2011

I have done 2 races in this suit - both winter (So Cal winter - maybe that doesn't count?) where the water temps were in the low 50's/high 40's as reported by the race director. Of course your hands and feet will be so cold you won't feel them but I never really felt cold in the suit. I guess once the race gets going the adrenaline kicks in along with the effort and you heat up. The suit is very buoyant - I'm 160lbs and it kept me floating in fresh water in an upright position. During the actual swim that buoyancy kept my body position horizontal and saved me from having to kick so much to keep my lower body up. It inspired a tremendous amount of confidence in the water. Coming out of the water I had no problem unzipping and getting it off to my waist during the run to T1 and then peeling it off once I got to my bike. The suit itself looks great with that big TYR logo on the front - it could be mistaken for any of their more expensive suits. You'll look and feel like a pro when you wear this - be warned, ANY wetsuit is unforgiving in the looks department. i don't care that it's black - you see EVERY bump/bulge/fat deposit. I highly recommend this suit, it has served me well and I'm glad I purchased it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Suit, As Advertised 20 May 2013

I purchased the Category 1 because I've gotten into triathlon over the course of the past year and become more serious in my training/competition. This wetsuit was advertised as an "entry level" wetsuit combining functionality and cost effectiveness. Although I am most definitely a "recreational" triathlete, a wetsuit in triathlon (especially in chilly open water) is a must.
First off, the suit runs true to size. I'm a larger than average triathlete (6' & 185lbs) so the Large fit me great. If you've never used a wetsuit before, I would suggest taking advantage of one of the many "how to" videos available on Youtube to make sure you're taking precautions when you're putting the wetsuit on and taking it off at T1. The suit, for me, went on and came off with ease without the help of any sort of extra lubricant or baby powder. Like I said, I use this for triathlon and my first competition with it was an Olympic distance (.9 mile swim). The increased bouyancy was unreal. The suit seals nice and fit snugly everywhere while offering very little restriction. You need to make sure you pull up any slack that might exist or it will become too tight around the neck; but that is not a fault of the suit rather operator error. Once sealed, the suit was very warm (although the water temperature was pleasant to begin with) and I did not have issues with water getting into the suit. My range of motion was terrific and I did not find it restricting my stroke.
As I mentioned, I am a novice triathlete, but for the majority of competitors or participants in tritahlon, this wetsuit will more than do the trick for you. I would very much recommend this product to any budding competitive or recreational triathlete.

Their sizing chart is a little hard to read but it's pretty snug. I was really buoyant in the water and it kept me warm in 52 degree water.

I actually like the product but the size did not fit me even though I am within the height and weight indicated.
I had to return it but ordered another one same brand two sizes larger which seems to fit wright.
