I bought this product on the basis of a Which? review. I have had 3 within a week, non of them would work properly. I tried everything possible from settings, updating software, contacting LG customer service - not much use might I add, changing settings on my TV even. It would simply not play Blu-ray disks consistently. Sometimes they would play, sometimes they wouldn't. I googled for hours looking for advice - but couldn't get it to work every time! I am fairly up on technology etc so can not think at all what on earth was going wrong. There seemed also to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Personally I would stay clear of this product it is very poor and after research I see that many people on the internet are saying the same thing. On with search for a new Blu-ray player!!! Really disappointed as it boasts some really good features.

I was a bit suspicious while buying the product because of mixed reviews in Amazon. But it is so far the best product I have bought from Amazon (after Kindle of course :-)). Really, the design is beautiful - slim and elegant. The smart remote takes just a bit to get used to (remember to shake it side ways to take the pointer back into the center), but it is very much life Wii remote, so eventually you cannot go wrong and fun to use. I main reason I chose it over BP630 is because it has its own web browser. I thought it'd be complicated to browse the web, but the suggested links are so comprehensive and intelligent that you don't need to type more than 2/3 letters. Connecting to the WiFi works like a charm and without any issue. Connects to the WiFi smoothly every time I start ON the device, although you've to wait about 10 seconds max.. This makes sense as it loads apps and such before connecting to network. Used BBC iPlayer and Youtube so far and the video + streaming quality is excellent. It does its main job brilliantly, i.e. playing Bluray and DVD discs with vivid video quality. I'd recommend to use a high quality HDMI cable to get the best of it. Perfectly played DivX and DivX+ (MKV) files from USB. Easily connects to Galaxy S3 via Miracast. I think LG has produced and all rounder and perfected the technology. It will be very beneficial for someone like me who does not have smart TV. I can't be happier with something I'm using daily. I highly recommend the product. Oh and as cream on cake I received a �25 Amazon credit voucher as promotional offer - life is beautiful.

First BP730 arrived, excellent delivery service by Amazon, unpacked and set player up, completed all firmware and software updates. Inserted brand new blu ray, player wouldn't play the blu ray disc. tried numerous other blu rays and dvds but each one took 4 -6 attempts to play. Returned player and ordered replacement (Amazon was excellent).
Second player, wouldn't play blu ray or DVDs at first attempt, again it took 4-6 attempts to recognise discs (all discs were UK region and not copies or damaged in anyway). Also, loading discs was very noisy and the player seemed to struggle to recognise initial tracks so kept returning to home screen. Maybe a bad couple of players but I have returned the second player and asked for a refund. I guess I'll buy a Sony or Samsung!!

I have three 3D Blu Ray films. Of those one would hang repeatedly and the other two would lose sync between the picture and sound, and it's not flaws in the disks – They play perfectly on the player I got to replace it.

Like most items of consumer tecnology, I can't quite get over how much the price has come down for BluRay.
My first machine was the Sony PS3, but a bit of a tidy up (e.g. sorting out the livingroom) has encouraged me to look at sleeker and more elegant solutions, whilst also looking to see what (useful) additional features and functions could be had. Purely for consistency, my first place of looking was with LG.
This unit is remarkably slim and shallow (doesn't require a deep shelf), but with a broader footprint (about the same width as my AV amplifier). There's a small 'ledge' with a couple of essential touch controls (eject, standby, etc) and the slot loading tray, offset, to the left-hand side.
Installation was really simple. Just unpack, plug for power, slot the HDMI cable and power up. You'll need to setup the 'magic remote' (and wait a moment while is pairs to the system). All pretty straight foward.
The remote nearly threw me, as I'd not taken any time to understand that there was a gesture based navigation available. I'm a traditional remote user, preferring to use the buttons for that affirming 'click' when I select something, but to be honest, after a couple of tries it does become very natural and easy to use.
Initial playback was pretty quick, with no long delays in firing up a BluRay disc and with the picture and sound better than I'd previously had with the PS3. It's also a lot quiter in operation (something I hadn't really noticed before) which makes viewing films much more enjoyable and relaxing.
I've used a powerline network connection, so connection is solid and stable. I've only tried iPlayer, but again the playback is impressive when I compare to anything that I'd tried before. Read more ›
