Product Description

Zack Snyder directs this action adventure feature, produced by Christopher Nolan and based on the DC Comics hero. After being sent to Earth by his parents to prevent him from dying in the destruction of his home planet Krypton, an infant boy is taken in by Kansas farmer Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) and his wife Martha (Diane Lane), who name the child Clark. Growing up Clark (Cooper Timberline/Dylan Sprayberry) begins to discover the true potential of the superpowers he possesses but with this comes a sense of responsibility. In his 20s Clark (Henry Cavill) gets a job as a newspaper reporter at 'The Daily Planet' where he meets and later becomes romantically involved with colleague Lois Lane (Amy Adams). When an evil force threatens the Earth and its inhabitants, Clark resumes his true identity as a superhero and fights to save the planet. Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe and Laurence Fishburne co-star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the haters 30 Nov 2013
By Mike
Format:Blu-ray
All I have to say is that I am a MASSIVE superman fan, ever since I can remember I have loved the character and what he represents. This film is a totally different to the Christopher reeves film which is why I believe it is something special. Ok the from the beginning is the story we all know but we get to understand it a lot more than in the previous films like zods hatred for the house of EL. As the film unravels you get to see a side of superman that you don't really get to see in the other films, you see the trials and tribulations he has to go through to become the man of steel. Just go into this movie without judging it against the Christopher reeves movies, they are timeless classics and I will always love watching them but man of steel brings what we all know he can do and have waited to see and that is be all that he can be.

4.0 out of 5 stars The view from www.drunkenmovieramblings.co.uk 25 Nov 2013
Format:Blu-ray
After the last Superman reboot, the painfully tedious "Superman Returns", back in 2006, I can't say my expectations were high for yet another (reboot). Initial promo pics though did stir some interest, apparently this would have a darker tone, and the sight of Superman handcuffed did look promising.

So is it any good?

Oh boy, yes it is. Zack Snyder has been brought in to direct and has given the franchise the much needed kick up the arse it needed. The relatively unknown Henry Cavill plays lead, and he is ably supported by Amy Adams and Russell Crowe but the star of the movie is Micheal Shannon as General Zod, the guy was born to play this role. This is a Superman film with balls, steel balls, dark, brooding, violent and intelligent, a fine reboot, and a great super hero movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular 24 Nov 2013
By Thomas
Format:Blu-ray
Zack Snyder knows how the craft an impressive visual piece of work...and Man Of Steel may just be his best. With the depth of a Nolan film, and action of an Epic scale, Man Of Steel is a comic book feast and a great, detailed film.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very underrated film 17 Sep 2013
Format:Blu-ray
This film has got a lot of bad publicity because it wasn't anything like the original. If there is one thing i really hate it is people who can't over the past. The Christopher Reeves Superman films were good for what they were but always were cheesy and not really 'super'. Yeah they are a classic and go down in history with such films as Star wars, back to the future and whatever was a feel good movie from those days but Man Of Steel is a true Superman film.. if that makes sense. We get to see his true powers that we have never ever seen on live film before at last. People keep forgetting that in this film he is not 'Superman' yet hence his lack of experience with regards to destruction of the city and his fighting against the other Kryptonians. This film is based on the events that lead to him becoming the Man Of Steel or as some people already called him, Superman. It was his first day as 'that' hero and people already expecting him to be on the ball and knowing what he is doing. People in real life situations take time to adapt to their role, so does he.

I agree that maybe the action could have been cut by 20 minutes and we could have done with some character development for mainly Pa Kent played by the great Costner but then if there was less action people would moan like they did in Superman Returns. The truth is people will always moan because Superman will always be a hard character to depict on live films and to make every person happy. I think this film will be loved more in time and depending on the sequel.

Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe were fantastic as Kal/Clarks father. Both had strong presence in the movie more than any other Jor-El or Jonathan Kent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent film 3 Nov 2013
Format:DVD
One of the best films of the year, don't listen to all of the Man Of Steel haters they are all stuck in the days of Christopher Reeve who, don't get me wrong defined Superman in those films. But it makes sense that we can compare the two but not as far as to say it could never be as good. Which yes I realise that many of you grew up with Reeve's Superman and don't like to see Superman changed. But we have to look foreword like we did with Batman, as nobody stopped Christopher Nolan from doing Batman after Joel Schumacher ruined Batman in the 90's because they were afraid that he would ruin it too. So think about letting someone else have a go at reinventing something before you write a lot of hate about the film.

5.0 out of 5 stars criminally underrated 2 Oct 2013
Format:Blu-ray
Personally i was never a superman fan, never liked the character but this film changed that. I think some people just think of the old classic films but this brought superman to the modern world in a epic way,

5.0 out of 5 stars The most super of superman 9 Oct 2013
Format:Blu-ray
I Loved this film so much that I went to see it twice in the cinema which is something I haven't done since Jurassic park was originally released.
yes it has elements that would never have been approached in previous films but that's what makes it epic, I still get goosebumps when I see the 1st flight scene
