Seriously, this won't help at all but this was an insane film. It included action (a little bit of) romance and some pretty hardcore scenes. Great film :)

3.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS HOW THE BEER GETS DELIVERED
This film picks up a few years later. Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson )joins a Justice League of misfit crime fighters. Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) has promised to stop crime fighting as she stuffs dollar bills into the swear jar. Our bad guy (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) has taken on a name not worth repeating. He has started his own league of criminals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Continuing 2 Kick-Ass., 16 Aug 2013
This review is from: Kick-Ass 2 [Blu-ray + UV copy] [2013] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Being a sequel Kick-Ass 2 had no chance of capturing the 'controversial' shock value of the first film and an early decimation of a group of bad guys by Hit-Girl {always a gleeful treat} might in fact lead you to think that this film was just going to be a retread of the first film's highlights. Thankfully while it is still foul-mouthed and full of over the top, choreographed violence, it's a leaner and faster paced follow up that moves the story of the main protagonists forwards in a thrilling, energised, fun ride that had me leaving the cinema full of cheer.

Continuing the theme of normal folks as superheroes, it is three years later and Kick-Ass Dave Lizewski no longer wants to fight crime alone and sets out to become part of a team. Moving at a brisk pace the action is formed around this idea while finding time to ponder on what it means to be a hero. Parallel to this is the rise of Chris d'Amico, the previous film's Red Mist, now re-christened and re-invented as super-villain The Melon Farmer and his mission to destroy Kick Ass with his own recruitment of a team of bad guys. Meanwhile Hit-Girl has the hardest job of all ....trying to fit in at school.

Various new characters are introduced; a grizzled Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars n' Stripes for the good guys and more impressively, Mother Russia for the bad guys. A brick out-house of a woman in a red bikini who would'nt look out of place in a 'proper' superhero film and could hold her own as a credible 'Bond' villain. See her wipe out squad cars full of cops single-handedly and smile.

But of course the most enjoyment in the Kick-Ass films comes from Hit-Girl. Chloe Grace Moretz continues to prove why she is rated such an up n'coming actress in the role that this time is more about Mindy Macready than her alter-ego and after the early action we do have to wait to see Hit-Girl cut loose again but when she does it is still a joyous and wondrous thing to behold. Guess which bad guy she has a smack down with?

I liked this film immensely. Yes I could have done with a bit more Hit-Girl but then I could have done in the previous film. Full of fun and brio and given heart with moments of reflection and sadness it was hugely enjoyable. It's not a film for everyone, if you loved the first film you will be on board with this, if not this won't convert you.

I'd say really that this is a 4-star film but I've given it an extra one as it had me walking out of the cinema mentally punching the air and whooping with glee which I`ve not done since `The Avengers.'

4.0 out of 5 stars We're the heroes, 13 Nov 2013
This review is from: Kick-Ass 2 [Blu-ray + UV copy] [2013] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
After all the average reviews, I really wasn't really looking forward to this sequel, because the first one was so fantastic, and the new director hasn't really handled such a movie before.

So the titular character is back, and the narrative continues from the first movie. Red Mist now becomes a super villain, and enlists recruits, and Kick-Ass joins a hero group led by Jim Carrey.

Hit Girl on the other hand tries to live a normal life, out of respect for her father, and turns her back on crime fighting. But old habits Die Hard, and Hit-Girl is never too far away.

The first movie was groundbreaking, a refreshing spin on the comic book movie that was violent, profane, and laugh out loud funny.

This is more of the same, but because its a sequel, they up the ant a little, and this ruins the momentum of the film, because now the swearing isn't as funny, and for this movie, a lot of the violence is pretty dark, and in one particular scene involving the Mother****er and Night B***h, almost unwatchable.

But despite all its shortcomings, its still a fun movie and entertains in droves. The original cast are as good as always, and Moretz once again steals the film from everyone. In one of the most disappointing summers ever, its refreshing that a sequel to a film that didn't need a sequel is enjoyable.

So its not as good as the first, and overkills the violence and the language, but its still enjoyable.

Plus it has the greatest photo of Nicolas Cage ever...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sequel , Bring on no.3, 8 Oct 2013
I loved the first Kick-Ass, it was funny, bloody and cutting edge. Some of the one liners were hilarious and it had a great balance between story, characters, action, humour and a bit of drama too. It would be tough, almost impossible to beat.

The sequel I can honestly say is almost as good, it's not exactly the same mixture as the first but has to be judged on it's own merit and had to be different. To summarize everyone in the cinema who saw this came out laughing and talking about it, a very rare event really. So, not to ruin the story, but this continues where Kick-Ass left off and the first thing you notice is there less adult humour, it becomes more slapstick overall, but in as good way. The story is not as fluid and well paced but it bring alot more laughs and take itself alot less seriously. The young villain is a million times better in this than the first, and really makes the role especially when they are going through his mums things (You'll know). Overall a great film, if you like a laugh and can put up with gore and stupid comic material you will be laughing like hell at some of the scenes, it's just out there ! Jim Carrey is also in it, but really should have had a bigger part as he was great, and the two core characters are on top form.

I am looking forward to the third, unsure if/when it will be out ..and remember, you should always stay until the end of the credits :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget the low scores, Buy this movie!, 30 Dec 2013
This review is from: Kick-Ass 2 [Blu-ray + UV copy] [2013] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish and easily in the top 10 movies of 2013. Don't go to imdb and make your choice based on, what appear to be completely rubbish, ratings. If you enjoyed the original then you WILL enjoy this sequel and look forward to the 3rd and final Kick-Ass movie. Action packed, fast paced, funny in parts, upsetting in others. You still reading? stop! buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why so much hate?, 28 Dec 2013
This review is from: Kick-Ass 2 [Blu-ray + UV copy] [2013] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
what the hell is wrong with people, this movie is so much fun, it may not be AS good as the first, but its still an AWESOME AND THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING film and sequel.
Great action, big laughs and a great yet small performance from Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Of you liked the first movie, there is no reason in hell you won't like this one, its not as good as the first but that does mean its the piece of garbage people are making it out to be.
ITS GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!

5.0 out of 5 stars KA2 KICKED ASS, 5 Dec 2013
I saw this film 10 times in the cinema as I am a huge fan of the comic book and that I found the film to be pretty amazing transition from comic book to film which sometimes goes wrong with some transitions. Kick Ass 2 in my opinion was not as good as the first one mainly due to its shock value of hit-girl foul mouthed ten year old assassin but it was enjoyable since it was slightly different from the first one meaning you got to see the more personal (normal) side of Mindy AKA Hit-girl. Also I enjoyed every single moment of the film with Colonel Stars and Stripes played by Jim Carrey.

Overall I felt the Film was Entertaining with its blend of actions and comedy, I recommend this to anyone who has seen the first or loves comedy's and action films also any one who likes comic-books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kick Ass 2, 30 Sep 2013
This review is from: Kick-Ass 2 [Blu-ray + UV copy] [2013] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
First just a brief comment on Jim Carey's denouncement of the film after shooting. I feel very negatively about this move; it seems completely based on a desire to protect his own image which is understandable but I take serious issue with the way he chose to do it. For one if he felt strongly about the level of violence in the film he should have refused to appear in it, but that is only a minor issue. More important is the suggestion that violence in film should be connected to murderous acts in the real world. Any serious and calculated act of violence such as the one Carey was responding to is the responsibility of the person committing it. To suggest that a film can be held in any way accountable for the decisions people choose to make does little more than offer an excuse for deplorable behavior. We should promote accountability and encourage people to assess their actions in the light of the real world not scapegoat (to any extent) a piece of fiction.

Now on to the film itself. Most important to say is that Kick Ass 2 is fun. Its characters remain heightened but engaging, the action is nicely contrasted with the 'real' world personas of the protagonists and its tongue in cheek self mockery meshes excellently with a commitment to turn serious when the need arises.

On the down side the humor does at times stoop very low, luckily this is infrequent and can be overlooked. The plot could be criticised for being largely directionless and seeming to meander from scene to scene. This would be valid criticism however I feel it was a deliberate and effective touch. One of the main things this film was able to impart was that these characters do not have a plan, their fictions meet reality and the chaos that ensues is theirs to deal with. How the characters choose to deal with an escalating situation they never envisioned is one of the main driving forces for the movie. A seeming lack of control in the story line is completely apt.

At the end of the day this film falls flat occasionally but rewards so much more often. The Kick Ass series still has the power to entertain, shock and engage its audience. Once again fiction meets reality and the two are molded together in a film that manages to be at once ludicrous and gritty. I would recommend this film and its predecessor without hesitation.
