This album features three original songs, a cover of a British Christmas rock classic, a cover of an American Christmas rock classic, and five Christmas standards that everybody has heard countless times before.
The three original songs are One more sleep (a Christmas love song), Your hallelujah (in memory of deceased members of her family) and Mr Right. My favourite among them is One more sleep, which seems the obvious choice for release as a single.
The five standards are Winter wonderland, White Christmas, O holy night, Ave Maria (the Schubert version) and Silent night. Leona performs them superbly and, like the other songs here, they have a contemporary production.
The American rock classic, Christmas (baby please come home) was originally recorded by Darlene love for Phil Spector's Christmas album, which a lot of people are familiar with. I've heard several versions of the song, but while the original is still the best, Leona does a fine job with this song.
The British rock classic is Roy Wood and Wizzard's I wish it could be Christmas everyday, which was a UK top 5 hit for them in 1973, since when it has been very much a part of British Christmases, although I don't think it has become popular in America. Apart from not using a children's chorus, another obvious difference in Leona's arrangement of the song is that she sings the first verse at a much slower tempo, with the rest of the song at the expected tempo. Still, it works very well.
This is a great Christmas album by somebody I've not paid attention to, but will in future.

Ever since 1994, the only Christmas album I keep buying religiously every year for the seasonal gifts is Mariah Carey's "Merry Christmas". Cheerful, jolly, a little melancholic too, beautifully assembled inside-out, a perfect package. Although her second attempt with "Merry Christmas II you" failed to excite me as much, Mariah's poppy vibe is a guaranteed winner.
There is also Loreena McKennitt's "A midwinter night's dream", and Tori Amos' "Midwinter graces" (both strongly recommended), but those two are more subtle affairs, ideal for those who enjoy quiet and introspective listenings.
It seems that this year I have found a new alternative for Christmas gifts in this new ditty from gorgeous Leona. There you have a wonderful collection of festive classics as well as some new cuts, beautifully executed and presented in old-fashioned style. Leona's voice is really a gift from up above, a perfect instrument suitable for those trademark ballads she is best loved for, as well as for traditional cuts.
Lead single "One more sleep", and "Your Hallelujah", two of the album's three new songs, are highlights; the absolute stand-out, though, is "Ave Maria": Leona's operatic interpretation has to be one of the most glorious moments in recent pop culture, a trully astounding performance. Also, got to mention the unexpectedly not so overblown arrangements. This is a rather spot on project, only let down is the 33' running time, a couple more songs would surely be welcome.
Right then, I'm off to order a few copies of each of the above!

When we all heard Leona was doing a Christmas album we may have thought how will this work with all the Ballads Leona does. But we were not shocked that Leona could do up tempo joyful songs. This album will make you feel good inside. With a special Operatic version of Ave Maria which is flawlessly astounding. Must Buy!

I wasn't expecting this Christmas album to be anything special, But oh how I was wrong! Leona is back on form just like she was spirit era, The vocals on this album are stunning! My favourites our One More Sleep, Ave Maria (which Leona sings in opera wow what a moment is it!) and Your Hallelujah! The full album is amazing tho and I would highly recommend this for you or if your thinking of getting it as a gift for someone.

"One more sleep" is the most addictive Christmas song since Mariah Careys "All I want for Christmas" Cannot criticize Leona's voice in any way, one of the last all natural powerful voices left who doesn't need "twerks" or other gimmicks to sell records.
Great collection of Christmas songs, some bouncy fresh and some old time classics. Ave Maria is exceptional did you know Leona can sing Operatic?
Buy this and play when decorating your Xmas tree or wrapping presents.
10/10 to Leona and her team.

Anything Leona does is great. Her new Xmas songs are very catchy and will be popular at parties. Her operatic version of Ave Maria is amazing!

Poor value
Not a bad album but just 32 minutes long means to me it is poor value. Many songs are covers so of the new songs you might as well just download those separately.
