The book started with promise, the hunt for the mysterious assasin "the tiger" (ok albeit a bit silly). Then it just went all over the place. Given the reviewes I had high hopes but I will not be buying another by the same author. Look elsewhere first.

See some of my other reviews for suggestions and cautions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great, 29 April 2010
Firstly, I just loved A spy by nature, I highly recommend it. The Spanish game was good, but not quiet as excellent. But having said that I finished it in record time and unlike a spy by nature it had a nice exotic feel to it (Set in Spain - mostly Madrid). Great tension and twists. Just what is Saul up to??

Some have complained about the accuracy or otherwise of the Basque problem - Simplistic I'm sure but hey at least I am now aware there are issues there, I found it interesting.

Recommended reading if only to let Alec live on in our imagination one more time. I wonder if he will make another appearance??

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!!, 29 April 2010
I loved this book. I am 41 but it so much made me think about if I was a 20 something Uni grad looking for work as a spy this is sort of how it would all go. Love the fact that it is not all gadgets and car chases, it is just so clever. Buy it if you like Le Carre or if you are a bit sick of the silly macho heros from the likes of Lee Child.

Recommended.
