Book Description

4 July 2013 Audiogo
Photographer Philip Holt established his reputation as an amateur detective in The Desperate People, when he proved that his brother Rex had been murdered and solved the case. This time, his skills are again in demand after he meets Robert Scranton, a wealthy American, on the plane returning to England from the USA. When Scranton learns that his son Vance, a student at a new university in the South of England, has been shot dead, he asks Holt to investigate the killing. Things snowball - but in strange directions. Forgery, blackmail, smuggling and yet more murder are among the pitfalls that Holt comes up against in this gripping adventure. Exciting and suspenseful, this tightly-plotted story is packed with twists and turns right up to the surprising, shocking denouement...From the creator of popular radio detective Paul Temple comes this thrilling sequel to The Desperate People, read by Neil Pearson.

A good alternative to Paul Temple, similar style, and this story with. New hero Phillip Holt a photographer dragged into assist the police is a sequel and once again beautifully performed by actor Neil Pearson the reader over six cds.
Listen at home or as I did on a long car journey, you won't want it to end.

I was disappointed with this item as it a total rehash of another Francis Durbridge book - The Jonathan Mystery

....of Paul Temple and the Jonathan Affair - unabridged, single narrator version as opposed to the BBC full cast version. Names and places changed, but basically the same story.

This should have been made clear - feel a little cheated.

This story is a re-working of the Paul Temple mystery "The Jonathan Mystery" only the names have been changed. The plot is the same with the same outcome. I was disappointed to think that Fracis Durbridge used the same plot as that of his radio script mystery.
