5.0 out of 5 stars A really good paid of headphones!
Skullcandy were more of a fashion brand in my opinion but I am pleased to say they are much more then that. I now realise they not only have a great line of options but also sound great! On these Uprock's they are a really good sound for what is paid on these.

2.0 out of 5 stars more style than substance
First the few good points - the in-line controller works fine with the Apple iPad, the tangle-free chord is good (although a little short) and they look nice. I won't get carried away by the packaging because at the end of the day you throw it in the bin. The main thing that is vitally important for a pair of headphones is the sound quality and then secondly the fit. On...

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good paid of headphones!, 14 Aug 2012
Skullcandy were more of a fashion brand in my opinion but I am pleased to say they are much more then that. I now realise they not only have a great line of options but also sound great! On these Uprock's they are a really good sound for what is paid on these.

Good bass with all the right amount of mid and treble which does not sound muddy. I think they have balanced them well.

The white and blue goes really well together and I am pleased to report that the build quality is also excellent!

I was even impressed by the way they were packed. Presentation is important as you open your new play thing.
Loving the music controls. They even work a friends BlackBerry so that is very good as I thought of only Apple. The box states "works with most smart phones" so this is a bonus.

The control button also has a microphone to take calls.

All this for 30.00. Top marks!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Uprock supreme sound, 7 Aug 2012
This review is from: Skullcandy Uprock 2.0 On Ear Headphones with Mic - Black / Black (Electronics)
These Skullcandy Uprock sound fantastic, for 25 I can't see anything beating these. I've had Skullcandy in ears before and go through headphones like there's no tomorrow, my previous skullcandys (50/50's) sounded good and lasted well so I decided to give these a go. I wanted some cheapish over ears that weren't massive or too heavy, these are really lightweight and comfortable, they will sit on your ears for hours with no discomfort.
I am not an audio or sound spectrum expert but they do have GREAT bass/mids/and crisp clear high's. They also do get VERY loud with nice wide stereo sound! There's a range of colours but I played safe and went for black.
The in line mic also includes track control to play, pause and skip track which works with my iPhone 4s and iPad (not tested anything else)
Overall 5 out of 5

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent but not great, 26 Sep 2012

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
These are perfectly decent headphones for the price, but they do have their limitations.

Most importantly, they give a fairly good sound, although the hyperbolic claims from the manufacturers on this page seem very over-done to me. I found the bass strong but higher pitches rather unclear at times and individual instruments can often become indistinct. For casual listening on the train, say, they would be quite adequate but for anything more serious I don't think they will really do. Compared to the Sennheiser HD448s I have been using, the overall sound is quite muddy, although to be fair the Sennheisers cost three times as much so I would expect better from them.

For on-ear (rather than over-ear) phones they are reasonably comfortable, but they do press quite strongly after a while and for very prolonged listening this may be a problem. The styling is a bit overdone for my taste with prominent skull logos on shiny black plastic cups and headband. The in-built microphone and control is useful to those who need it (I don't), but the cord is quite short and divides to go to both ears rather than leading into the left only and connecting via the headband as I am used to. I found all this a bit fussy and showy, which I think is an important aspect of these 'phones - they want to be seen and to be a feature, which may suit you well but personally I prefer unobtrusive headphones with a comfortable fit and which concentrate on sound.

Overall, then, these are pretty good headphones for the price. They aren't as good as they claim to be and are a bit flashy for my taste, but I can still recommend them as reasonable quality and good value.

These are comfortable and stylish - the sound quality (for their price) is reasonable, but the bonus of having the microphone definitely makes a difference. A good piece of kit for a good price

On both these points these over-styled fashion-victim headphones are very poor. I compared them to an old pair of Sennheiser HD202 headphones that I own and to give the Skullcandy phones a chance I connected to the Amazon MP3 Cloud on my iPad - given the puny length of the chord and the amount of logos on the Skullcandy phones I assumed that being seen with them on, connected to an MP3 player was the designers intention. So I picked a good mix of tracks from rock (Wolfmother), pop (The Ting Tings) and dance (Daft Punk) all quite bass-orientated (which these phones claim to do well). I have to say I was very disappointed with the results. The Sennheiser's were exactly the same price but sounded like they costs 100 in comparison to the Skullcandy phones which were woefully poor at everything but bass. The vocals were 'clouded' and individual instrument sounds muddled into the bass. So onto fit - they are quite uncomfortable with no padding on the arch that sits on the top of your head. While I admit the Sennheiser are 'over-ear' so your ears are enclosed in a padded cup while the Skullcandy phones are on-ear, it's no excuse for poor fit and sound quality. I also thought despite all the logos plastered all over the phones they looked cheap in comparison to the older phones. Also audible 'bleed' for other people in the vicinity (e.g. on the bus, on the train, anywhere nearby) is, because of the on-ear design, very bad on the Skullcandy phones.

If you prefer style over substance then be my guest and waltz around with your logo encrusted headphones, if what the music sounds like is more is important then either get some decent in-ear phones with the in-line control or look at other manufacturers.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good all-round choice, 1 Oct 2012

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
I usually use in-ear headphones, but was sent a pair of these to try and I love them as an all-round general headset.

I've used them with an Android phone (HTC Sensation), a MacBook Pro and an Android tablet (Nexus 7) and found they deliver good sound as well as surprisingly good isolation. Naturally you're not going to get the same audio response as an expensive headset, but these are perfectly adequate for listening to music while travelling. The in-cord microphone works well, especially giving voice commands and dictation to the tablet, but I've not found the multi-click control works with music playback on the Android devices. They work well as a Google Hangout/Skype headset.

The plastic feels as if it should be fragile but is surviving well in my travel bag. Not keen on the bright silver skulls on the top and sides, but black is my preferred colour for everything. The ear cups are padded and comfortable and do not get sweaty. They are angled slightly so that you know when you have them on the right way round without needing to look for the L-R marks. The flat cable is very effective at preventing tangling and I've been able to get the headphones out & into use in tight spaces without a problem.

Summary: Decent value and a good choice.

For thirty quid, these aren't bad, and I can confirm the in-line controls work with the Galaxy S3 phone I used as an MP3 player - you can click to pause & skip tracks etc. without problems, and I tried it with both the Samsung music player app, and also the BeyondPod podcast manager app. Sound quality is fine, dependent upon your source as ever, but I can't honestly say I was blown away by the clarity etc. They aren't the most comfortable things in the world, though - they feel as if they clamp pretty tightly over my ears (these sit on, rather than over or around your ears).

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable headphones, really great sound!, 22 Sep 2012

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
These attractive, practical Skull Candy headphones are comfortable to wear and produce a satisfying full sound.

I tested the headphones watching videos on my computer, listening to music and to take calls on my mobile.

The small mic control has one button with 4 functions, depending on the number of clicks. One click enables you to take/make calls. When listening to music, one click enables play/pause; two clicks moves you on to the next track; three clicks moves you to the previous track.

There is no volume controller on the headphones themselves.

The flat cables are great, because they really do mean that they don't tangle.

The sound produced is rich and clear. These are an all round great value pair of headphones. The more I listen through them, the more I love the sound!
