Product Description

The thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester brothers continues as SUPERNATURAL enters its eighth season. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent their lives on the road, battling every kind of supernatural threat. Over the years, after dozens of bloody adventures, they have faced everything from the yellow-eyed demon that killed their mother to vampires, ghosts, shapeshifters, angels and fallen gods. They even came face to face with Lucifer and the Four Horsemen in averting the Apocalypse. With the help of allies -- both human and supernatural -- they've discovered that every threat they vanquish opens a new door for evil to enter in. In the show's seventh season, their hunt for the dreaded Leviathans -- monstrous creatures escaped from Purgatory -- has cost them dearly. Claiming the life of their best friend and father figure, Bobby Singer, and shattering their protector, the fallen angel Castiel, Sam and Dean's battle to somehow defeat the age-old Leviathan threat will take everything they've got. As dawn arrives after their endless struggle and sacrifice to defeat the world's evils, they know that, come nightfall, something otherworldly -- something supernatural -- will claw its way out of the shadows, demanding their attention

4.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As The Show's Peak 19 Sep 2013
But still way, way better than the previous two seasons. This season had more of a direction, more of a focus than
the previous two years, with some terrific twists, guest appearances, and arguably the show's biggest ever show-changing finale. I'd criticise the show primarily for the lack of Jim Beaver who always added to every episode he was in (although he does appear in one ep this season), and you don't really get the idea the world's in peril, the big stakes
you saw so clearly in Seasons 4 & 5. Still, it also shows how best to use Felicia Day, as an additional flavour rather than a main ingredient as Eureka did which totally took the focus of the show's leads and ruined it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not The Best Season... 19 Sep 2013
Not the best season of Supernatural, but still better than the majority of junk on TV. Too many new, superfluous elements were added to the mythology without any justification, but the season still ended on a high. It's almost a shame that a season of Supernatural has so many episodes in, as inevitably that results in filler episodes where the main season arc lurches to a halt. That was particularly prevalent in the middle of Season Eight when the Winchesters were tasked with three trials to close the gates of Hell. For a while it felt like one step forward, two steps back and while you could argue that might be "realistic" it doesn't always make for riveting television.
