I've always been a MS user, but was seduced by the Macbook's fabulous slimline design and light weight. After only a couple of weeks, I have to admit that learning the vagaries of operating Apple still has me stumped at times! But once I get to grips with it, it will be great!

super cool upgrade to my old black macbook. migration assistant made loading software easy.

initially wanted a 27inch imac, but realised couldnt live without portability. so got macbook pro and dell screen. best of both worlds.

battery life is not quite up to advertised 7hrs, found a few posts on updating PRAM settings which ill try.

flash storage is WAY quicker than harddisk,

definitely happy to have bought MBP retina and a cheap amazon dvd drive than the macbook pro with dvd... its a big weight saving for a laptop.

Just bought the 13" 256 Gb, 8 Gb RAM version and so far happy with it but I did buy it quickly as I was in need of something light and fast within a day of deciding I needed one. I therefore didn't look too carefully at the specs but now that I've had time to take a look, it's a little disappointing to see that the this MacBook doesn't come with latest wi-fi technology which is "ac".

The battery is supposed to offer "up to" 7 hours but that has to come with some hefty tweaking because even with just surfing the net through wi-fi, I seem to get no more than 4.5 and that's with a dimmed screen, sound off, backlit keyboard off etc etc.

If I turn wi-fi off, then I get good battery life but that's hardly the point these days !

The MacBook is fast to boot up and most things run quite smoothly but I'd expect that from most core i5 laptops with 8Gb RAM.

The build is very good. Excellent design but I'm now paranoid of dropping it, scratching it and so have it housed in a 13 inch sleeve, kept inside a 15 inch sleeve kept inside a Samsonite laptop bag. The reason is that NOTHING on offer really offers the kind of protection you'd want for such a nice and expensive piece of kit so the only way was to double / triple up the covers but even with that much protection, it's still very light and easy to carry around.

Why buy this over a Samsung UltraBook / Zen Book ? Very little reason to buy this over the Zen Book except that you get a pretty decent software package with the MAC and the lovely retina display but you're paying the best part of �800 extra for that.

Main annoyance ? The power supply. It constantly comes loose when I least want it to, otherwise it's fairly solidly in place.

Bad Point: If this goes wrong and it's out of warranty, re-mortgage your home 'cause it's going to cost a huge amount to get it fixed.

Advice: Buy the 3 year Apple Care support for an EXTRA �199 !!

If buying with your head, you'll buy an UltraBook. If buying with your heart, you'll buy this MAC.

This is my first Mac. After many years using a PC I decided to take the plunge and spend the extra money. So far it would appear to be money well spent. I have had to spend some time getting used to it and migration assistant didn't work for me in transferring files but that aside I am very pleased with the design & build quality, the stunningly crisp display and the speed. The battery life takes some beating especially after being used to PC laptop batteries that are flat within a couple of hours. I'm glad that I went for the 256Gb storage as that should keep me going for a good while. Even with all the files transferred from my old PC I still have a good 200Gb left. The delivery was very good. I placed the order on the Monday evening & the Macbook was with me on the Wednesday morning. The price made things all the sweeter saving over �250 off the RRP and avoiding the dreaded Mac tax. What else - oh yes, slim lightweight & quiet. I can't hear the fans at all but when you do want it to make a noise the speakers are amazing for a machine of this size. All in all I am very pleased and as I learn more about it I'm sure that it will grow on me more and more.

I love it, the screen resolution and picture is sharp and no visible any pixels. I am highly recommended this product

I have used the previous model for the past three years and decided it was time for an upgrade even though I had never had an issue with the previous model. Arrived the next day. Easy to set up as expected and easy to transfer all my data and settings from my Timemachine backups and Itunes. As expected from Apple no issues in the first few weeks of use but quicker than previous and the retina display is stunning

I love this 13.3 inch pro with Retina display. The delivery is fast only one day to my hand. So, I open it up as soon as possible and found that the system is easy to use which just do some basic setttings and then download some apps from Apple store. Gennerally, it is easier,faster and clear than other laptops, that is the reason why I love it. This pro is awsome!

I already own an iMac and an iPad and did have an iPhone until I decided to go for an android Sony Xperia. Have to say, this is an awesome laptop, a delight to use. Quick to boot up and never ever hangs. The screen in incredible. Any negatives? Apart from battery life which isn't great, this has to be the best laptop on the market bar none!

This Mac was bought as a replacement of my PC, and I really love it, some things are other(different) then on PC but not complicated to learn, as I wrote I love my MAC it was worth every penny I have spend

standard posh item. display quality tipped the scale towards apple products.
a shame that PCs do not favor our eyes
