Good book by an accomplished author. So often I have read one free book by an author and not wanted to read another one, but once I had read one by L J Sellers I downloaded several more. The journey of Detective Jackson is a tortuous one with his health problems, but for me this made him rather more real than many of the detective heroes. The story was intriguing - was the disappearance of two young women related? In real life they may not have been, but being fiction of course they were.

Well worth a read if you like this kind of fiction.

This is a crime tale which develops in an uncomplicated "as it happens" time frame. The dogged lead detective ferrets out loads of dots and then gradually joins them together to form the complete picture. Characters and characterisations are good with the main players reasonably rounded and fleshed out. Very good goodies chase quite bad baddies, and after negotiating almost all the barriers in the American legal system the hero sees that all the guilty parties get their comeuppance . The nature of the crimes are not nice but they are dealt with in a sanitised arms length way so the reader does not have to cope with some of the more lurid and unpleasantly realistic scenes common in many similar books, which leads to a pleasant undemanding read

A good average read. The plot was well developed and gave enough interesting twists and turns to keep me interested throughout. The characters were quite well drawn but I am not quite sure what Jackson's illness did for either his character or the plot as a whole. This was the first of this author's books that I have read and have been sufficiently pleased with it to look forward to reading others. As all the books I read have to be in ebook format it was really pleasing to find that there were no strange line breaks or other features of poor formatting. This in itself makes it an easy book to read.

This book goes in so many different ways, with new characters coming in from beginning to end. It also makes you think you know who the suspect is then at the very end of the book, it works out you were wrong. Not many authors can do this, certainly not as good as LJ Sellers is.

I have read all the LJ Sellers Series and wasnt let down by any of the stories. You need to read the series to keep in the flow I have read some comments complaining that nobody has indicated in which order to read them to get the best from the books. I did a little research and was able to email the author who confirmed this order.

Detective Jackson stretches the boundaries and occasionally he forgets where the boundary is and careers straight through, much to the chagrin of the people he is after. If you want an easy read and like crime based thrillers and mysteries then this is the book for you.

I don't normally write book reviews, but I enjoyed these books so much, I wanted to drop a note.

I got my kindle about a year ago and have been trying to read a lot of free or close to free books to get exposure to new or underexposed writers. Some of the books I've gotten for free have been awful- no character development, see-through plots and ludicrous endings. I rarely stop reading books- but the bad writing in some of these novels makes me wonder how they ever got published.

When I started reading L.J Sellers books, I was not expecting much- I was certainly expecting another disappointment. After I read the first novel, I was pleasantly surprised. I quickly read the first and continued onto the second and third!

Over the first three novels in the "Detective Jackson" series, I have felt connected to the characters. The author doesn't make them seem perfect or super-human. Rather, they are flawed and human. (Detective Jackson's medical problems, family issues, etc.)

I especially like the progression of relationships throughout the books. In many novels I read, the characters go from meeting to falling in deep love in 10 pages. I feel like Jackson's and Kera's relationship is truer to real life- taking it easy and getting to know each other. Their relationship spans through the series of novels. The author doesn't go to either extreme- falling in love to quickly, or painful break-ups to cause excitement.

The novels are also engaging and suspenseful- and I have been surprised more than once! I enjoy reading stories that are resolved at the end- and her stories leave you feeling fulfilled.

I would recommend these novels to anyone looking for an exciting storyline and likable, logical characters.
