Liars, Cheaters & Thieves (Detective Jackson) MP3 CD – MP3 Audio, 3 Oct. 2013

3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 3,113 ratings

LIARS, CHEATERS & THIEVESWhat does a man drugged and slashed to death by an unknown assailant have to do with a woman felled by a fatal heart attack after learning her bank account had been plundered? The cases seem as different as their scenarios — late night in a tavern parking lot and early the next morning inside a bank. But a troubling theory soon unites them: Was the first crime’s murder victim the second crime’s mastermind? There’s a case to be made for the connection between slain Iraq War vet Rafel Mazari and the bogus veterans’ charity that robbed Molly Pershing of her money and her life. But Detective Wade Jackson and his homicide team have even more damning evidence against Mazari’s wife — including a hypodermic needle and a scalpel. But when an identical murder claims the victim’s best friend, Jackson suspects a motive darker and more devastating than infidelity, greed, or love turned lethal.

Good, solid read from start to finish. L.J. Sellers is a fantastic author and although each novel is a stand-alone book, there are common threads throughout but not overbearing the main story eg. Jackson's relationship with Kera.
The author makes each character plausible with the help, maybe of allowing us to know they're not white as the driven snow. We get to know hidden flaws about the main characters a little at a time. After all, life isn't perfect and neither are the people who's job it is to protect us. That is what makes the characters come to life.
Very good plot as always.
For anyone who hasn't tried any of L.J. Sellers works, I highly recommend you try the author's first novel " The Sex Club" (I know its the first book involving Detective Jackson. Like most it was the title that intrigued me and made me curious to find out more. It can be a little hard changing to a new author you may not have heard of. Maybe agree to read the first 100 pages. I'm quite certain that you will continue on to the very last page.
Lastly, a piece of advice. Please read these novels in the order that they were written. The second book, especially, reveals important information on "The Sex Club" which only the readers who finished this novel would know. If you're in any doubt about the order of the books, have a look at the back of the book. Only a couple of pages long, the author 'speaks' to the readers and its there that you'll find the true order of the novels where Wade Jackson is the main character.
On to the next book...

I came to this book having read all of the previous Jackson novels and I have to say I enjoyed the story. It was a typical Jackson novel with a mixture of detective work and some family/personal threads running throught it to keep the characters alive. The disappointment came at the end, which I do not wish to spoil, but I was left with the feeling that it was a bit rushed... I have still given the book 4 stars as it was a satisfactory read.

I enjoyed the read.
Really good plot and well written.
Made me want to keep reading and when a book keeps me up at night, then it's a good read in my opinion.

A thoroughly good read. This detective story flows, unlike many books where you go back and forth, this makes it an easy read particularly if you are busy as you can just pick up where you left off rather than think now which character is the story on now. The chapters are short.
I do not give you the story because I do not like it when it is spoilt for me.

I've read most of this series and didnt find this book as gripping as the others in the series. There was no real twist to the end which there usually has been with others and just hoping the next in the series which I've downloaded appeals more.

The detective Jackson novels by L.J. sellers follow the similar character type as Michael Connoll's Harry Bosh, Kate atkinson's Jackson Brodie, divorced, Teenage D aughter to add complications to their ever increasing punishing work load. I have very much enjoyed the 3 books I have read, in chronological order and I will definitely be reading them all.
L.J. Sellers in my opinion is a talented author, a 'good read'!

I have read all the LJ Sellers (Det. Jackson) Series and wasnt let down by any of the stories. You need to read the series to keep in the flow I have read some comments complaining that nobody has indicated in which order to read them to get the best from the books. I did a little research and was able to email the author who confirmed this order.
Sex Club, Secrets to Die For, Thrilled to Death, Passions of the Dead, Dying for Justice, Liars Cheats & Thieves, and finally Rules of Crime.

Not really impressed. No twists or turns. I would not call it a thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic thriller series

This was an intense, complex, and intriguing story with many unexpected twists that will hook you until the end. There were many heartbreaking situations throughout this story, but unfortunately they were even more tragic with the actions of themselves and others. It's certainly an interesting read.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.

Please refer to the front of the books for the correct reading order prior to beginning this series. The list on Amazon series page is incorrect for the first 5-6 books.

I have become a big fan of LJ Sellers. This is a book well worth reading but I found the ending just a little bit disappointing.
