Could Have Done Better

I have already bought this album & feel rather disappointed with it. It came with a jig saw (What's that all about?) Why a bonus CD with only three tracks on it?. They could have fitted on to the main CD. I now find that Voice In The Wilderness & We Say Yeah are on the vynal & Cd singles, they should have been on the bonus CD.
Finally, where is Dynamite?, for my money the finest rock n roll song that he ever did. That should have been on the bonus CD as well, or on the main CD in place of Time Drags By.
Sorry, but I feel a bit ripped off with this CD for what is NOT on it & I am a Cliff fan from '59.

There are some things in life which are simply the best, the obvious example being Rolls Royce in motorcars. When it comes to popular music, Cliff and the Shadows were always head and shoulders above the competition, with excellent material, superb production and, of course, unbeatable musicianship. Unbelievably they started out professionally in 1958 and achieved success after success, becoming world-wide stars in the process. Sadly, The Shadows split up in 1968, and while they reformed five years later, they would not work regularly with Cliff again, except for reunion concerts. 2009 saw the long-awaited 50th Anniversary Reunion Tour (a year late, of course!)and as we all knew they would be, they were absolutely superb.

Before the tour took place, they recorded a studio album, their first together for decades. Most of the tracks are re-recordings of hits and/or favourite album tracks, with a sprinkling of covers of classic rock and roll numbers. They have revisited this material, which many of us know so well, and have cleverly re-interpreted it without, as sometimes happens in such cases, making the listener cringe and say "It doesn't go like that!"

This album shows that they have lost none of their skills, they sound as great as they ever did and whatever may have happened in the now-distant past, they are obviously all the best of friends and working superbly together. Welcome back, fellers! It's as though they had never been away - what more is there to say?

I purchased both this special edition 2 cd Cliff & Shadows Reunited and the DVD as a gift for my Mum who is a super Cliff Richard fan from the ender age of ten years old. We were unable to get her tickets for the tour at Wemberly, so this is the next best thing. Im sure she we be overjoyed to both these were she un wraps the wrapping paper christmas day.

The Special cd has limited edition jigsaw and is packaged nicely in a collecters tin with the 2 cds, i have no doubt my mum will enjoy listening to the old tunes of her childhood of her idol Cliff Richard and The Shadows.

I am sixty years young. When my friends started listening to CCR in 1969 I 'discovered' Elvis PRESLEY and the fabulous artists of the 50's, such as Buddy HOLLY, Roy ORBISON and many others of that time. I have a very comprehensive vinyl collection, including double LPs of Eddie COCHRAN and Gene VINCENT.

When I was a very 'young one' on the beach at Southport in Queensland I recall hearing a DJ in a shack play 'Apache' over the PA system and I liked the sound.

I have come to love the simple, uncomplicated amazing talent of Cliff and the Shads and played cds of their music at my wedding in 2004. This CD has some variations on their classic tracks but that doesn't spoil anything. I believe their fans will still like it.

I Enjoy listening to this album and seem to remember a lot of the words to the songs!
Pure nostalgia but the new versions of the hits seem fresh and remind us of the collective talents of these guys.
If you enjoyed their hits of yesteryear you will probably enjoy this collection of new recordings.

Great reminder of all those old hits. More of a shadows fan than Cliff, and just a bit disappointed none of the shadows reunited tour instrumentals were included. Not as sharp as the 'live from Kingston' days but still good to hear and good value. Two things for certain though, they were the best ever at what they do either together or individually, and sad they will never record or play live together again. Sadly time catches up with all of us.

If you love Cliff Richard and the Shadows this album is for you, If you are not sure if you like Cliff and the Shads........this album is for you.The guys show their class and years of experience on this album, great musicianship,great songs/tunes/GSOH and a fabulous listen. These guys + The Beatles got me hooked on music on playing guitar and recording music albeit in a modest way and this album is worth every penny BUY IT!

I bought this for the nostalgia of the tracks. Wonderful 'yelling while driving in the car' stuff. Evie loves to sing all the lyrics which I never learnt so I babble along with anything that seems right.
The guitar playing is, as ever, note perfect though Cliff is deeper in tone than his heyday releases. I never bought this stuff at the time but now the return trip makes sense. Buy it again and you will smile away.
