A Digital Radio for the Digital Age

AXiS XS is the ultimate 'connected' digital radio device, uniquely combining multi-format radio reception with iPod and iPhone docking and wireless audio streaming from your Bluetooth® device or networked PC or Mac computer.

AXiS XS is capable of receiving a full range of digital radio standards including DAB, DAB+, FM with RDS and internet radio. Next generation multimedia services such as DAB Slideshow and RadioVis are also supported.

This compact radio features a 3.5" colour TFT display, and is controlled via an icon-driven touchscreen user interface, enabling quick and easy navigation around the radio's many advanced features. AXiS XS boasts award-winning audio performance, courtesy of its 8W Class-D amplifier and patented Balanced Radiator loudspeaker technology.

Completing the hardware picture, AXiS XS provides charging for a range of USB devices including mobile phones, tablets and accessories.

AXiS XS is capable of accessing over 16,000 internet radio stations from all over the World, providing an unprecedented choice of radio content. Whether listening to samba from Brazil's Radio Caraibas, New Orleans Jazz from WWOZ or live sport from New York on WFAN 660.

No rules, no frontiers. With internet radio there is massive choice, no subscription charges and no international boundaries.

Connect, select and listen. AXiS XS connects to any Wi-Fi broadband connection to stream both live and 'Listen Again' internet radio broadcasts. Stations are listed alphabetically by country or music type, making selection simple.

Wireless Network Audio Streaming

AXiS XS allows you to enjoy your entire music collection streamed from a networked PC or Mac in your home. AXiS XS supports a wide variety of audio codecs including WMA, AAC, FLAC, MP3, MP2, Real Audio. Audio streaming requires a UPnP server or PC or Mac running UPnP server software.

I have several Revo radios, and bought the new model Axis because I was so impressed with the original model. I have the original version as an alarm clock radio upstairs, but this one lives permanently in the living room.

The radio has all the features of the original version, but the major plus point for me is the ability to connect to the radio by Bluetooth. This means I can sit on the sofa controlling the music stored on my phone, whilst the sound is amplified from the Axis radio. When friends come round, they too can connect by Bluetooth, even if they don't have an iPhone like me.

The other improvements are to the design, which has a similar look but is updated. Also, there is a USB socket on the side, which can be used to charge any device which has a USB cable - I tested it charging the iPad, and it worked fine.

A great radio just got better.

5 stars (again) !!

I bought this radio for my mum as a christmas present and I was well impressed.

Out the box I got the radio, remote control, power supply and quite a few iPod cradles (which I didn't use)

On first power up, you basically select what you want to use, you have FM, DAB, Bluetooth, Internet Radio, USB, iPod and more. we started off with DAB and it scanned and found quite a few stations. You can add the DAB stations you like to your favourites. (10 max) FM is pretty straight forward also, I just selected it and made sure it could find some stations, which was also fine.

The internet radio is really easy to set up. On power up just select wireless settings and confirm it can see your wireless router and enter your wireless key. The Revo Axis will automatically sync the time once its connected to the internet.

Once the Revo Axis is on the internet, its really easy to search stations. You can search by Genre or location. once you've selected a station, it'll save it in the last visited stations or you can save it as one of your favourites (I think with internet radio it'll save more than 10)

One of the problems we had when setting up the Revo Axis was that we would connect to an internet radio station and it would play for a few seconds and then say 'connecting'. We had to reboot the router to cure this. The Revo streamed with no problems after.

The iPod dock is great, just plug in your iPod. if you're on the radio it will ask you if you wish to play the iPod. It will also charge the iPod on standby. I had one of the new iPod shuffles, which obviously wouldn't work out the box with the Revo. I think you'll need the iPod shuffle dock and select USB for this to work. (best to check with Revo first though)

Sound wise its good, pretty beefy. you've can adjust bass and treble and should be loud enough for any kitchen on bedroom. One of the Revo's plus points is that you can connect it to your hi-fi, so you can have it as part of your entertainment system.

The remote control is the reason for 4 stars on this product. in iPod mode, you can scroll through tracks, select volume and power off and on. but in radio mode, (internet or DAB) you can only adjust volume or turn on or off. So if you want to change the station, you have to use the touch screen.

Any of the other features I didn't try, so I cant comment on, but all in all, I'm very impressed with this product from a manufacturer I had not heard of prior to this purchase. As yet I've had no software updates for this product which I'm not to bothered about (if it ain't broke don't fix it) My mum is now using it with no problems. (she's over 60 so that should give you an idea of how easy it is to use) I'll probably get one for myself at some stage.
