5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read on a 20th Century Icon.
Easily the most detailed, unbiased review of the turbulant life of one of the 20th Century's most famous stars. Taraborelli, who is a favourite writer of mine, paints Taylor's life with such detail that by the end of the book you feel you really know the person that she is.

An interesting biography as it is based on an interesting life but I found the author too sycophantic and a little irritating. I spent a while researching which book on Elizabeth Taylor and thought that this sounded well-rounded but it was not balanced at all. A bit disappointing...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read on a 20th Century Icon., 31 Dec 2010

Easily the most detailed, unbiased review of the turbulant life of one of the 20th Century's most famous stars. Taraborelli, who is a favourite writer of mine, paints Taylor's life with such detail that by the end of the book you feel you really know the person that she is.

The book highlights the highs of her life, and also the tragic lows that she somehow managed to fight through. The book really showcases what a survivor Elizabeth Taylor is.
All of her marriages are covered in detail, and actually Taylor comes out as a sympathetic character caught up in these events, not the man-eating legend that the media has displayed.
Her romance with Mike Todd is tragic, and of course the Burton/Taylor romance is covered with great detail.

Altogether a really good read, I found it hard to put it down at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth:The Biography of Elizabeth Taylor, 2 Jun 2011
A sympathetic and interesting biography encapsulates both Elizabeth Taylor's movie career and many of her life moments, her idiosyncrasies and 'incidents' as Richard Burton called them. It is a portrait of a humorous and likeable woman, who despite the mantle of incredible wealth, stardom and undeniable beauty, handled the chaotic and less savoury moments of her life with candour, self-deprecating wit and kindness. A good read and filled with detail other biogs. missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant biography, 4 July 2012
J.Randy Taraborrelli does it again! I've read most of his work and what I love about his work is that he doesn't write with an agenda. He gets the facts, interviews people and then puts in all together to form an entertaining yet informative read.
Elizabeth Taylor is an amazing woman and her life is possibly the largest life I've ever read about. The jewellery, the marriages! I come away from reading this book wanting to watch her films and to find out more about her.
Amazing read!

A real page turner, Elizabeth Taylor's life is facinating and Taraborelli tells her story so easily with flowing chapters, it really is an excellent book, a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth - fascinating read, 28 Aug 2013

I chose the 5 star rating as I consider this to be a truly insight to a bygone icon's life - the acknowledgments themselves were like reading a separate book - what I particularly enjoyed was the short description of where and what happened to Elizabeth's family and husbands at the time of completion of the book - this interesting section was at the end. An absolutely great holiday read, although I read mine in bed and couldn't wait for bedtime every night. The only downside was the beginning when Elizabeth was a child which was not as interesting as when she got older and turned into the 'star' that we all know. Thoroughly recommendable from one who doesn't normally like autobiographies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth Taylor biography, 29 Jan 2013
It was a wonderful insight into one of the most famous movie idols. It was enjoyable to read and captured the times and also touched on the lives of people around her such as Richard Burton. I grew up watching her films but never knew what an interesting and sometimes tragic life she had lead.
