Book Description

1 Feb 2009 National Geographic Readers
National Geographic's own film "March of the Penguins" put penguins on the radar of kids and adults alike. This beginning reader introduces kids to the many species of this fascinating creature, with emphasis on oddness - not hard to find! Kids will love knowing that the Emperor Penguin is the same size as they are, many penguins throw up - a lot! and Dads are a lot like Mums in the penguin world. In this book we have included some basic penguin facts but as usual have also incorporated the extremes that kids love. There are superlatives, jokes, and best of all, the incredible photographs available only from National Geographic. The cover also makes use of the NG Kids logo, matching the logo used on NG Kids magazine with a subscriber base of 1.3 million. Books are levelled and presented to parents, teachers, and librarians with a letter from an expert in the field of reading and education.

Do you like Penguins? Penguins can be very interesting. In Penguins there are lots of facts, some amazing facts are that some Penguins lay at lest 2 eggs and only one survives, a group of Penguins that live together is called a colony. There are 17 different species (kinds) of Penguins! The smallest Penguin is called the Fairy Penguin the biggest Penguin is the Emperor Penguin!
I like Penguins because it teaches me about their lives and what they look like. I love all of the Penguins because they are all unique and special.
I would recommend this book to people who like Penguins, animals, and facts!

I am very impressed with the National Geographic Readers. I think they are perfect for bringing information to young children at a level that is appropriate for them. They are very interested in the world around them and love non-fiction. These books have wonderful pictures and are well written.
