Romanian-born singer Peter Maffay is one of the most successful German rock musicians of all time. Over the past four decades, he has released 12 top-selling albums and sold more than 40 million records and CDs around the world.
Georgian-born British singer Katie Melua was discovered on a TV talent show in 1999. Her 2003 debut album "Call off the Search” stormed the charts in Britain and launched her international career. Since then, Katie Melua has sold more than eleven million records around the world.
In 1985 musician Sven Regener founded the group Element of Crime in West Berlin. Since 1993 every one of the band’s studio albums has entered the German Top 30. Sven Regener has also been successful as an author; his novel “Herr Lehmann“ has sold more than one million copies. And a screenplay based on the book won a German Film Award.
Robert Plant was the lead singer of Led Zeppelin from 1968 to 1980. The British band made rock music history, selling 300 million records around the world. After Led Zeppelin broke up, Robert Plant dedicated himself to solo and group projects.
Vocalist Giusy Ariniello, guitarist Oliver Mayer and drummer Basil Brändli founded Phébus in Basel in 1995. Since then the rock band has released four studio albums and performed many concerts in Germany and Switzerland.
