This week Arts.21 presents something of a sensation: "Wadjda", the first feature-length film shot entirely in Saudi Arabia. We'll also introduce the shortlist for the German Book Prize - six novelists in the race for the coveted trophy. Women in Saudi Arabia can neither drive nor vote. All the more surprising that the first feature film shot in the ultraconservative kingdom was directed by a woman: Haifaa al Mansour. She teamed up with the Berlin-based production company Razor Film. "Wadjda" premiered this year at the Venice Film Festival.
