Inside look at DW's multimedia broadcasting center in Bonn

Visitor Service

Bonn: Broadcasting center

If you're interested in the fields of intercultural dialogue you’re invited to visit our broadcasting center in Bonn.

Please direct your inquiry to us in writing – including the details of your preferred topics and dates – at least one month in advance. The minimum number of participants is six and the maximum is 20 (groups larger than 20 require special arrangements). Please send us a list with the names of participants and confirm the exact size of your group at least one week before your appointment.

During your visit we will introduce you to the work and programming mandate of Deutsche Welle and present our various media segments and services. You'll get an inside look at a modern multimedia organization that provides news and information in 30 languages.

Meet with experts

Following the tour you will have the opportunity to discuss topics of specific interest to you with a qualified expert or panel. Please indicate in as much detail as possible what areas your group would find interesting. Depending on your country of origin, we can also arrange a visit to the news desk for your native language – if the schedule of that department allows for it.

A variety of impressions

On your tour through the station in Bonn you will witness various components of our multimedia productions, such as a live studio broadcast, an audio, video or television production and other multimedia workstations and editing suites. The tour is organized around the production and broadcasting activities on that particular day. We will conclude the tour with by visiting the master control room, where engineers monitor and control all our broadcast signals around the world.

Our guides will also explain the architecture and history of the building.

Our visitor program usually takes two hours. Special arrangements, such as talks with experts and in-depth presentations, will last longer.

Participation is free of charge. Tours are available in German, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian upon request and can be arranged from Monday to Friday at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.
