Quiz

Spheric, atmospheric, electronic sounds have made Christopher von Deylen alias Schiller one of Germany's most successful musicians. The man from Berlin is currently touring in support of his new album "Sonne." We'll also have videos from the rap-soul duo Xavas, guitar poppers Fools Garden and birthday boy Harold Faltermeyer.

And we'll visiting highly touted indie rockers Adolar at their home in eastern Germany.

Topics

Schiller - Relaxing sounds for the masses

Christopher von Deylen is the person behind the hypnotic sounds of Schiller. He's sold well over a million records, but he can still walk around Berlin unrecognized. That's in part because Schiller lets others sing his songs. On his seventh studio album "Sonne," the guest vocalists include Der Graf from the band Unheilig. PopXport takes a closer look at Schiller.

Adolar - from the Altmark region to the world

With their energetic indie rock and provocative German lyrics, Adolar have won over the hearts of fans and critics - in Germany and beyond. Nowadays, the band is at home in Leipzig, but the members grew up in social housing projects in the Altmark region of the eastern state of Brandenburg. It was a grim environment, but not the worst one for a band, as Adolar have shown.

HIT - Xavas - Schau nicht mehr zurück

Our hit of the week comes from soul baladeer Xavier Naidoo and rapper Kool Savas, who are making waves as a duo under the name Xavas. With their song "Schau nicht mehr zurück," they beat out 15 competitors at the Bundesvision Song Contest. And if that weren't enough, their current album is number one on the German charts.

TIP - Fools Garden - Innocence

Seventeen years ago, Fools Garden stormed the charts everywhere from Canada to Japan with their hit "Lemon Tree." The band from the Black Forest was never able to repeat that success, but they kept making music and became especially popular in Russia. The first single from their new album "Who is Jo King?" is our video tip of the week.

CLASSIC - Harold Faltenmeyer - Axel F (1985)

Bavarian music producer Harold Faltenmeyer is celebrating his 60th birthday and has no shortage of hits to look back upon. In 1985, he landed a world-wide smash with the theme song to the film "Beverly Hills Cop." The instrumental rocketed into the top three in the US, Britain and German and was nominated for a Grammy.
