300 Days Alone on an Island
A young man of today wants to play at being Robinson Crusoe. Xavier Rosset equipped himself with a video camera and went to the Pacific island of Tofua in the Kingdom of Tonga for 300 days. He wanted to get away from the rat race for a while, wanted to know whether he could exist under such extreme conditions. In addition to a camera, all he took with him was a first-aid kit, a knife and a machete. His home-made film shows him battling tropical storms, hunger and disease, as well as homesickness and boredom.
