Tuning in now easier for viewers in Africa

DW has changed satellite providers in Africa making it easier for viewers and listeners to tune in at home.

Deutsche Welle (DW) has made it easier than ever to tune in to its English television channel for Africa. DW is now available on SES-5 – a Ku-band satellite which allows viewers to receive DW direct to home. This change means that all viewers in Sub-Sahara Africa can now use a normal dish (80 cm to 180 cm) to tune in to DW around the clock.


DW offers viewers in Africa a television channel with 24 hours of English programming - covering everything from politics, business and culture, to science and technology.

Listeners also have the opportunity to tune in to quality programming in English, as well as Amharic, French, Hausa, Kiswahili and Portuguese with DW’s radio service. It’s all available on the new SES-5.
