The standard continues to slip.
90210's Third Season proved success enough for the CW to commission a Fourth Season, however the Third Season proved tremendously inconsistent. For every truly great episode such as Liars, which acted as the perfect mid-season finale, there was a moment where Naomi for reasons best known to herself took medication with alcohol...for no good reason! The Fourth Season...

The Fourth Season proved just as, if not more, inconsistent than its predecessor. Several potentially succsessful characters such as Austin were introduced but chronically underused or misdeployed in bad storylines. Annie's entire storyline was nonsensical, as the small town girl from Kansas violently swung from acting as an escort to fund her tuition to attempting to seduce a priest. The only mercy that was Ivy, whose character has been rather dull and a poor fit for the series is finally bowing out. Frankly, since it came down to a choice between her and Teddy, it seems foolish that Teddy wasn't kept on as a main character. Even more bizarrly, he appears sporadically throughout the first 11 episodes, only to return at the end of the season to become Silver's baby daddy. The entire season is inconsistent and plagued by continuity issues - something 90210 has always struggled with. There are few thrills, and even Annalyne McCord's formidable efforts aren't enough to salvage this train wreck from near catastrophe. With this as a starting point, it seems unlikely 90210 will make it past the Fifth Season: assuming the CW can find a suitable replacement. Otherwise it'll quietly be retired in a 10 or 13 episode run to be replaced midseason.

Worst Season EVER!, 27 Aug 2012
This review is from: 90210 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
I've been watching this show since it started and have to say that Season 4 was the worst season yet. Reasons.... WARNING SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!! 1. Countless hook-ups and break-ups that will make your head hurt 2. Pointless characters that add nothing and disappear without mention 3. Awful storylines and writing 4. Unlikable characters; Annie has become annoying, Silver is forever the city/village bike, Liam keeps sulking like a child, Ivy hooks-up with two different dudes after breaking up with her husband who has cancer and later dies later on, Naomi...were do i begin! She buys a new house after breaking up with Max, after his relievement of her having a false positive pregnancy scare, hooks-up with new guy Austin, forms a rivalry with college student Holly, catches Austin and Holly kissing (they were together before he meet Naomi), Breaks-up with Austin, Starts a party planning Business (don't get me started), gets engaged to a wealthy man and later calls it off, plans a wedding for Max and his fiancee, and then...interrupts their wedding and confesses her love for Max. And that is all in only 24 episodes. So there we go. I have all the seasons on DVD but I will only be getting this when i see it in my local bargain bin (were it so rightfully belongs!)

Season 4 best seen yet, 5 Sep 2012

90210 is a really good series. Love the story lines this year. It's as good as the old series. Wish they'd keeped some of the old cast in it from the 1st season such as Kelly and Donna. I don't know how they cut Teddy back to a recurring star. He should be a main cast member. Trevor Donovan who plays him is a good actor. Season 4 did have a few things that annoyed me. Such as Vanessa. She just annoyed me. Can't wait till this season is available on dvd. Happy it's been renewed for a 5th season.

This review is from: 90210 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
This season started well, with some okay episodes in the middle but it got back on top form towards the end of the season. I liked the Dixon/adrianna pairing and although I loved Liam & annie together, I found the Liam/silver pairing interesting but i'm glad it ended! I hope Liam & Annie get back together in season 5. 90210 season 4 has some great storylines and is a great buy!
