5.0 out of 5 stars Album of 2011?!
It's shocking these guys aren't played on the radio or more in the "public eye"!
This album is fantastic! A definite contender for album of the year
13 tracks -all great, and which could all be on any radio playlist (Apart from 1 instrumental).
Buy this album! See these guys live!

1.0 out of 5 stars I just think that singing in broad Scottish accents...
...makes a band sound like the Proclaimers.

Musically there are some great moments on this album, but I wouldn't walk 500 hundred miles to listen to the vocalist.

An excellent album. Sounds better everytime I listen to it. If you like Biffy Clyro, you'll love this. An excellent rock band that are gonna be big.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good, 14 Jan 2012
This review is from: Free (MP3 Download)
Ignore the BBC Reviewer - what a load of tripe, this album is great. I loved Make a Beast of Myself and heard Free as a record of the week on Radio 1, so I downloaded the whole album. I have found it a real grower, Edit Me is a really good start to the album, Make A Beast of Myself is still my favourite track but I there are some really strong tracks like The Ghost Of Eddie and I LOVE Crash Land. It's also nice to hear a band that are not worried about the fact that they have an accent and try to tone it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars BBC are wrong here., 4 May 2011

This album is superb. If the BBC reviewer can't recognise a vital album when he hears one, then his loss.

Excellent album, if you like the bands recent releases, you will not be dissapointed with this! Reminds me of Biffy, which cannot be a bad thing, but unique at the same time!

I bought this on a limb, as it was suggested for me and it was a good price. In the past, I have heard a couple of songs from the album, such as Free and Make A Beast Of Myself, but the rest are equally good, I especially lke Yes, I Was Drunk.

Grab a copy, it's great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Twin Atlantic - giving rock a whole new face, 28 Aug 2012

This review is from: Free (Audio CD)
Formed in 2007, Scottish lads Twin Atlantic were supported by Kerrang! as babies and grew to land support slots with fellow Scots Biffy Clyro. Aswell as this they've even supported Punk giants Blink-182 (and are doing so again this year) - upon reading this I knew they had to be good, I just didn't realise how good. I picked up Free only a few weeks ago after missing the hype around its release (and thinking they were `just another band'). Smacked full in the face by Sam McTrusty's extremely strong Glaswegian accent I sat back in my chair and continued to listen, eyes fixed on the screen, barely breathing.

`Time For You To Stand Up's triumphant power chords present a confident, passionate band and lead guitar's background melody is so cleverly crafted it leads you yearning for more - hanging onto their every word. As he sings `I need you to believe in me' there's no doubt everyone listening does.

`Yes, I Was Drunk' has the most beautifully sincere opening riff, and raw, vulnerable vocals that make one hell of a song. With every melodic repetition a new layer is added: a bass riff, a strumming of electric guitars, modest drums. Definitely a pick-me-up or a song to cry to all rolled into one: sad without being depressing and melody victorious enough to put a smile on your face.

From the unrefined to the clean produced funfair feel of `Dreamember', sombre lyrics are disguised with a jaunty tune sure to stay with you for the rest of the day. No one can deny Twin Atlantic know how to write hooks & this is one of their best. Alongside title track `Free' which has a pre-chorus to rival the likes of Blink-182 easily, lyircs `Where's your passion, where's your fire tonight?' provoke emotion from the hardest of souls, rallying us up for a fight. Twin Atlantic even manage to throw in a credible instrumental in the form of `Serious Underground Dance Vibes' and it works, it does!

Aswell as their older more die-hard fans, Twin Atlantic seriously broke into mainstream with Free, making it to number 5 in the UK Rock charts last year. If you ask me it should've been higher, it's an outstanding album which was made even better live on their 2012 tour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favourite album of the year, 12 Jun 2012
This review is from: Free (Audio CD)
This album is my favourite of 2012 so far, absolutely love it. Love how the vocalist Sam McTrusty doesn't conceal his accent, like some other bands.
Their lyrics have been ridiculed by some, but really like them.
Just listen to 'Make a Beast of Myself' and then 'Crash Land' to get an idea of this band's versatility and skill.
BUY IT NOW!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
listen to these guys before they get big, and watch them explode!
Make a Beast of Myself is already reached number 2 on Kerrang's top 40 songs.
Love 'em.

Twin Atlantic are scotland's best kept secret! its good to hear bands singing with their native accents, not in some faux american voice, good album with good cross over appeal! need to get planet rock to champion the cause! rock on!
