This Creative MP3 player is small and neat and comes in a plastic case with a pair of in-ear headphones and a very short USB cable, there are also some limited instructions that seem to have been folded by an origami expert!!

First of all I charged the player(as per instructions) using my Creative mains charger that USED to be provided by Creative at one time!! Once charged I switched on the player which booted up in around 5 seconds, I set about loading some tracks to the player, this player can play FLAC so uploaded a few tracks using this format.

Sound quality is fairly good. the supplied phones are not that great though so plugged in my Ultimate Ears Pro 5's, the sound improved no end, I was very disappointed to find that there is NO user EQ available with this player, just 3 preset modes and the X-Fi settings of crystallize and expand which do add a 'live' feel to the music, but sound quality is good never the less.

Pictures and video seem OK on the player, I've only played the preloaded video which looked a little streaky, the screen is a little small for serious video viewing.

My biggest gripe with this player is the Bluetooth pairing, every device I tried to pair too did not show in the players list when searching for a new device, I could pair with my phone(1 year old Nokia) but could not use the link as yet again my phone was not listed on the Creatives Bluetooth list, I also have a pair of Samsung Bluetooth headphones, these are very new and have the latest Bluetooth version listed, so should work with this player with no problem, WRONG, these would NOT pair with the Creative player, which is a disappointment. Maybe this player needs a firmware upgrade and being a previous Creative costumer I would not at all be surprised.

Got one of these for Christmas, so far, so good. It's a bit chunkier than I expected, but it's still a very small player. Out of the box, only two gripes are that the cable provided by creative is ridiculously short, I immediately subbed a cable from my camera, and that no screen protector is provided, for a player which is effectively all screen. Once plugged into a computer the player registers like any other USB stick/hard drive, and file transfer is so easy my 4 year old niece can do it. Simply click the player, find the music folder. Drag music from your computer. Drop. Done. Alternatively, it can be synced using Windows media player if you want to use WMA format. I love the fact that it will play any format. It saves the incessant faffing with reformatting that Ipods involve. Another massive bonus is that music (or files) can be retrieved from the player, unlike an Ipod. Or, deleted manually, without the need to sync the entire library (like you do on an ipod).
Moving on to using it, on switching it on after first syncing 12 gig of music, it took a while to wake up, subsequently it's wake up time has been much much faster (a couple of seconds). The supplied headphones are murder to the player, which has amazing sound quality if played through a decent set (I use a pair of theseSony MDR-EX300SLB In-Ear Headphones with 13.5mm Driver Unit) or alternatively a set of speakers. If you ever find yourself listening to classical music (I tried a couple of tracks using flac lossless), the X-fi sound booster makes the sounds quality brilliant. Battery life (playing audio, no video) has so far checked out to be about 10 hours.

As an iPod owner for a number of years I was looking forward to trying out something different and was open minded before I even opened the box. To be sure that this was going to be a fair trial I plugged in my most decent headphones and was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality without having to mess around with the sound settings. Sadly this little player doesn't come with Bluetooth enabled earphones, nor are the supplied ones great quality. They are also the in-ear types which I find uncomfortable for a period of time.

The player comes with a super short USB cable to transfer files which also works as a charger. The shortness of the cable can be a bit annoying when charging as it just dangles off the computer unit. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge which isn't too bad, and it holds it's charge well. Transferring files is easy if you are confident enough with copying files into folders. Be aware although it is marketed with a 'touch' screen, only the buttons are touch enabled. Ironically I found the lack of buttons was the biggest let down. It's not as responsive as I expected and sometimes I have to press the same button a few times, which probably shows that you have to be quite accurate with where you are touching, and bear in mind these buttons are small. This would be a nightmare in the gym when you are jogging and cannot just feel the buttons to figure out where they are. The interface isn't immediately intuiative, it is simple but I can see some people who might need to randomly press the buttons to see what happens first to figure it out.

As with the other features, you can't use Bluetooth to transfer files which would have been great use of something that was already there.
