This award winning game encourages memory and literacy skills. Suitable for 2 to 4 players, who each take a trolley that they must fill. Turn over one of the 32 cards showing familiar, everyday items from the supermarket, such as eggs, tomatoes, washing powder and aubergines, and if they are on your list, you can pop them in your trolley. The winner is the first player to collect all the items on their list and fill their trolley. This updated version of our best-selling game is suitable for children aged 3 to 7. Children can learn to recognize various grocery products and read the names from their lists. The game can promote plenty of discussion, not only while playing, but also on a shopping trip to a real supermarket - children can see how many items from the game they can see on the shelves. The game can be supplemented with one or both of the booster packs ('fruit and veg' or 'clothes') to increase the number of players and/or the number of items to buy. The sturdy, wipe-clean board means that the game will withstand constant playing, and the colourful illustrations allow the game to be played by young children with no reading ability. There is an educational guide printed on the box showing how the game can compliment your child's education.

This is a simple game for young children. There are 4 shopping lists, 4 shopping trolleys and 32 item cards with pictures of foodstuffs and other things that you can buy in the supermarket. Each player takes a shopping list and a trolley, and all the item cards are placed faced down. Players then take turns to pick cards and try to find the ones which match the pictures on their shopping list. The aim is to fill your trolley with the items on your list before anyone else gets all their things.
This is a fun memory game for even the youngest children. My two-and-a-half year old is addicted! She wants 'the shopping game' first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The great thing is that I can sit down with both her and my five year old and we can do something together that they both like. I have also been known to set them up playing with each other and then creep away and do something by myself for 15 minutes...!

My children have loved the shopping game ever since they were old enough to understand the concept - about 2.5. There are other games out there that perform a similar function - having to remember where a face-down card is and having to find all the cards on your list - but this is the best version I've found. Shopping is something that all children know about and mine certainly found it fun to play at such a familiar activity. At the end of the game they enjoy taking their "full trolly" to an imaginary check out and paying for their shopping. I would highly recommend this game...

My little boy (2 years 9 months) absolutely adores this game. It's good on may levels - taking turns, memorising locations, improving vocabulary, etc., but most importantly it's good fun and we enjoy playing it as a family (which is fortunate, since our son requests it most days!!). The construction is sturdy enough to withstand the attentions of an excitable toddler!
