Giving Kindles and Kindle ContentGiving a New Kindle as GiftTo send Kindle as a gift, place Kindle in your Shopping Basket and check the box next to "Add gift-wrap/note" when completing your purchase. Designating your Kindle purchase as a gift ensures that the device is not automatically registered to your Amazon.co.uk account and prices for the Kindle purchase will not appear on the packing slip. If you have already placed your order and it has not yet been dispatched, you can change the gift settings in Your Account. Giving a Used Kindle as GiftIf your Kindle is registered to your account, deregister the Kindle before giving it as a gift. Deregistering ensures that your Kindle cannot be used to make purchases on your account. Please note that once the Kindle is deregistered, any books, subscriptions or other content you have purchased from the Kindle Store will no longer be delivered to the device. Remove all purchased material from the Kindle device. Purchased Kindle content cannot be given as a gift according to the License Agreement and Terms of Use of the Amazon Kindle. Receiving a Kindle as a GiftIf the Kindle is still registered to the original owner's account, you will need to first deregister the Kindle (see below) before registering the device onto your own account. Register/Deregister Your KindleRegister your Kindle to access features such as purchasing and downloading content. If you no longer have access to your Kindle or transferred it to another user, you should deregister your Kindle from your account. To register or deregister your Kindle:
Tip: If your Amazon user name or password contains numbers or characters not present on the Kindle keyboard, press the Symbol (SYM) key to see a menu of additional characters. You can also register or deregister your Kindle on the Manage Your Kindle page. Using Gift Certificates to Purchase Kindle Devices, Books and AccessoriesYou can use an Amazon Gift Certificate to purchase Kindle devices, books and accessories. Any available balance will be used for your Kindle Store purchase before your preferred payment method is charged. Your Gift Certificate balance cannot be used to pay for subscription content from the Kindle Store. Updating 1-Click Settings for Gift Certificate PurchasesYou are not required to have a payment method on your Amazon.co.uk account to make digital purchases such as Kindle books, but you must set up a default 1-Click billing address on your Amazon.co.uk account to use Gift Certificates for digital purchases. If you do not already have a 1-Click billing address on your account, follow the instructions below to add an address without entering a method to your account. To add a 1-Click Billing Address for Gift Certificate purchases:
Set the address as your default by clicking the link on the address labelled "Click here to make this your 1-Click default address." You may be prompted to associate a payment method with the address, but entering one is not required. Redeeming Amazon.co.uk Gift CertificatesYou must first redeem a Gift Certificate to Your Account. The funds will then be applied automatically to your next Kindle book purchase on your Kindle or from the Kindle Store on Amazon.co.uk. To redeem a Gift Certificate to Your Account:
Selling Your KindleIf your Kindle is registered to your account, deregister the Kindle before selling it. Deregistering ensures that your Kindle cannot be used to make purchases on your account. Please note that once the Kindle is deregistered, any books, subscriptions, or other content you have purchased from the Kindle Store will no longer be delivered to the device. Remove all purchased material from the Kindle device. Purchased Kindle content cannot be sold according to the License Agreement and Terms of Use of the Amazon Kindle.
