What is the difference between the existing Kindle (Wi-Fi, Latest Generation) and Kindle with Special Offers?

Kindle with Special Offers is a new member of the Kindle family -- it offers the same great Kindle experience, plus special offers and sponsored screensavers that display on Kindle's home screen and screensaver. By delivering these offers, Amazon is able to offer Kindle with Special Offers at a lower price. Kindle with Special Offers has all the same features as Kindle (Wi-Fi, Latest Generation).

Can I read library books on my Kindle?

Later this year, Kindle customers will be able to borrow Kindle books from more than 11,000 libraries in the United States through the new Kindle Library Lending feature. When Kindle Library Lending is launched, you will be able to check out a Kindle book from your local library and start reading on any Kindle device or free Kindle app for Android, iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, or Windows Phone.

How can I get Kindle software update 3.1?

We have a new, free software update available for your Kindle that is being delivered via a Wi-Fi connection over the next few days. To receive the update, please turn your wireless on and connect to an available Wi-Fi network (learn how to set up Wi-Fi on your Kindle). You can also download the update now and transfer it via USB.

How do I set up the Wi-Fi connection on my Kindle (Latest Generation)?

Kindle (Latest Generation) automatically detects nearby Wi-Fi networks and hotspots that broadcast their network name. When you visit a place that offers Wi-Fi access, such as your school, home, or the Wi-Fi hotspot at your favorite cafe, you can set up a Wi-Fi network. At a hotel or café that requires a password? Simply enter the password and connect to the network.

How do I register/deregister my Kindle?

From your Kindle, select Home > Menu > Settings > Register or Deregister. From Amazon.com, register or deregister via the Manage Your Kindle pages.

Are there any free books available for Kindle?

Can I loan a Kindle book?

Eligible Kindle books can be loaned once for a period of 14 days. The borrower does not need to own a Kindle -- Kindle books can also be read using our free Kindle reading applications for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android devices. Not all books are lendable -- it is up to the publisher or rights holder to determine which titles are eligible for lending.

Can I share content with other Kindles?

You can enjoy your Kindle content on Kindle devices or Kindle applications that are registered to your Amazon.com account. There may be limits on the number of devices (usually six) that can simultaneously use a single book. Subscriptions to newspapers or periodicals cannot be shared on multiple devices. You can see all your Kindle content and send downloads to your registered Kindles or Kindle applications from the "Your Orders" section of the Manage Your Kindle page.

What can I do about a frozen Kindle?

Plug your Kindle into an outlet, wait one to three minutes, and attempt to navigate. If necessary, unplug the Kindle and reset by moving and holding the power switch for 15 seconds before releasing it.
