Load ~ Metallica
Load ~ Metallica
Load (1996) is a cool album by Metallica. I remember when this album came out in late spring 1996. I heard "Until It Sleeps" constantly on the radio. It's an excellent song. This album is a huge departure from Metallica had previously done up to that point. They went from the thrash metal of Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, and ...And Justice For All to the rather bluesy sound of this album. Metallica seemed to just let loose on this album and did what they felt like doing, rather than trying to please all their fans. I agree with this approach. A band shouldn't do the same thing over and over. Just about every band goes through changes, though some always stick… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding their way, May 19, 2011
Rush (1974) is the debut album of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and John Rutsey. Yes - John Rutsey on drums. This album was before drummer Neil Peart joined the band and replaced Rutsey, who left the band.

Ever since Neil Peart entered the fold in 1975, the band has never been the same. Peart's masterful drumming and lyrical genius catapulted the band into superstardom. He single-handedly changed the direction of the band. Gone were the days of simple lyrics and straight up regular hard rock. Peart's lyrics combined with the musical ability of all three members not only added a whole new and different dimension to the band, but the band was taken more seriously and gained a… Read more

Hemispheres ~ Rush

Hemispheres (1978) is one great Rush album. A four song epic album that features the 18-minute, five part title track, this is Rush at the peak of their progressive years. The songs are heavy, sophisticated, and even humorous (The Trees). If you like the albums Fly By Night (1975), Caress Of Steel (1975), 2112 (1976) and A Farewell To Kings (1977), I know you'll like this album as well. These five albums are from Rush's progressive era, with long, epic length songs that fall mostly into the category of progressive hard rock/heavy metal. The lyrics are epic, science-fiction, and fantasy in nature. Some of these albums contain a lot of keyboards and synthesizers to go along with heavy… Read more
