Eat & drink

Feeling like a bite to eat? Come and enjoy a light snack, delicious lunch or coffee and cake at our cafe, Mr Tulk.

If you've bought food elsewhere, you are welcome to have a picnic on our lawn, which is a popular eating spot for Library users, tourists and city workers.

To protect our collections, we don't allow food or drink inside the Library. See our food and drink policy for more information.

Bottled water is allowed in most sections of the Library, provided it has a secure lid. You'll need to store your water in a locker if you're planning on visiting these areas:

  • Heritage Collections Reading Room
  • Australian Manuscripts
  • Maps Collection
  • Rare Books Collection
  • Children's Literature Collection
  • Pictures Collection
  • Dome, Cowen and Murdoch galleries
