Venue & location hire

Boasting beautiful surrounds combined with modern amenities, the Library is the perfect place to hold your next function or conference. Catering can be arranged as part of your event package through our preferred providers.

Corporate or private events can be held at our Conference Centre, Cowen Gallery, Experimedia, La Trobe Reading Room, Mr Tulk and Queen's Hall.

Film and photography shoots at the Library are also popular, and location hire can be arranged.

Conference Centre

The Conference Centre includes the Village Roadshow Theatrette, seminar rooms and a lounge.

Cowen Gallery

Hold your next function in the Cowen Gallery and be surrounded by masterpieces of Australian art.

Experimedia

Our new-media space Experimedia is the ideal venue for your next presentation, product launch or event.

La Trobe Reading Room

The architecturally significant La Trobe Reading Room is perfect for larger functions.

Mr Tulk

Mr Tulk cafe can be hired for private functions in the evening.

Queen's Hall

One of Melbourne's most beautiful 19th-century interiors, Queen's Hall holds up to 200 people.

Catering

We use preferred caterers CNK Food Design, Mr Tulk and food&desire to provide food and drinks at your event.

Venue hire services

Our venue hire service includes staff, furniture and equipment, and audio teleconferencing. Digital media support, recording and videoconferencing are extra.

The Library is open seven days a week, except public holidays.
