Professional development

We run a range of scheduled and on-demand professional development programs for teachers, librarians, literacy professionals and others. All professional development events must be pre-booked.

We also produce a range of online resources for teachers, librarians and literacy professionals.

In addition, we offer the Personal Learning Network, an online learning program for teachers and teacher librarians to build networks, discover web tools and share resources.

Scheduled programs

Our scheduled sessions, delivered by our education team, Centre for Youth Literature and Young Readers Program, cover:

  • literacy and reading for young children
  • research skills
  • books, reading and youth literature
  • exhibition previews

Check our What's on calendar for full details.

All professional development programs are designed in accordance with the VIT's standards of professional practice and the DEECD's principles of highly effective professional learning. Certificates of completion are provided.

Sessions can be booked for groups of up to 50. Minimum charges apply. For more information email education@slv.vic.gov.au or call 03 8664 7555.
