Centre for Youth Literature

The Centre for Youth Literature (CYL) promotes reading for pleasure for all young people and champions youth literature across the broader cultural spectrum. It is a national resource and network, with international connections in the field.

It produces events for young readers, professional development programs, a website, blog and multimedia, and advises and consults on youth literature.

Program of events

An annual program of innovative scheduled and on-demand events for young adults brings books to life and offers an inspiring array of Australian writers for teens to discover, meet and enjoy.

You can browse individual programs by date or type of event (check classes & workshops, student events and young adult events) via What's on or consult our school programs brochure, available as a downloadable PDF at the bottom of this page.

Professional learning programs such as Booktalkers and the biennial Reading Matters conference keep teachers, librarians and literacy professionals in touch with crucial issues and ideas in youth literature. Check our What's on calendar for current and upcoming events.
